Convexed Chopweiler

Ban,

Just curious, what is the stock thickness now that you have cleaned her up????

I just mic'd the ricasso at .222. It is full convexed so the spine is very slighty tapered. It definitely still has alot of heft to it. I tried some test chops with it and 2X4 chips were flying everywhere. It bites much deeper and is much more efficient than stock even though it did lose a little bit of weight.

Very nice work Ban. You should go to work for Busse so they`ll have more time to drink and you`ll have more knives to play with.

You have got to be kidding! Flawless work at usual! Are you ever going to sell these or are they all for customers. I am guessing these attract a decent premium to a standard one!

Ban, could you post a spine shot of the handle? Would like to see the thickness and countours if possible.

Most of the mods with a few exceptions after my FABM do not belong to me. They are done as requests by others.

very nice! is that a hamon?

The Chopweilers all show a really nice temper line. The hamon look is probably because of the polished edge up past the temper line. It does have a very hamon-like look but is not a hamon.

I will have to do that tomorrow. I have the knife at the my work. The handle thickness is about the same as your WFBM.

Holy Mackerel Ban, that Chopweiler is stunning. Not only is the blade incredible but the linen handle slabs rock!

I was taking a closer look, and the transition from the spine to the edge looks amazing.

I keep coming back and looking at this one. WOW! Ban, did you ever manage to get a spine shot of that sucker?

Well I'm still coming back looking at this CW in awe!!! This is one of the best dressed Rats I have seen short of fancy Horn grips or the like.
Ban you are the man of shine!!! Beautiful!!!

Thanks for bringing this one back up RussMo!! I recently picked up a second Old School RatWeiler (couldn't bring myself to have my VERY FIRST ever Rat modified) and it's in Ban's hands now. We have some cool stuff planned and I am sure he will post the changes.

This thread keeps me oogling and what an amazing job Ban does. My RatWeiler will be blade #4 he has graciously worked on for me...

You Hogish Rat!!! I only have one of the OLD style, but I have four of the NEW style. In fact I have been toying with the idea of bouncing one toward Ban for a little of that BANIZATION magic!!!
