Convince me, I'm on the fence on this one.

Wow!!!
Thanks LVC! I really appreciate it!
I will no have to do some thinking, but if it is smaller than the RMD I am not sure what to do. I have a hard time passing on anything pumpkin G10 :).

The price on these are insane, how can you not get one? These are as close to the SHSJ as you can get without paying over $1000. You even get to choose your own handles and if you want a choil or not plus it's a limited edition. I'm not sure what there is to think about. Jerry is just giving these away at those price.
I mean if you are going to use them, sell a SHSJ and get two of these so you can have one for the other hand :D

.

I don't think the original SJs will be selling for $1000 anymore with the new Boss Jack being available now, they are too close in design.

Unless it's snakeskin. ;):D Now if we could get a rope cut BOSS handle in snakeskin it would be a different story.

I'm sure there is still some collectible value in the old Gen III rope cut pattern though.

Now, I didn't say they wouldn't still be more valuable, just that they wouldn't sell for $1000 (which I would never had paid myself). The SJ variant below was the third Busse knife I ever bought and the only one I have left out of the four or five I have had. I also paid less than the new BJLE, but since I would never be able to replace it, I wouldn't sell it. The older original issue models I would think would always be worth more, but the new re-releases do seem to bring their value down. :(

Yea, i believe it too, and it kinda hurts a bit. I had one i planned on selling, and now i don't think i will, but thats me. It is a much different knife though. IMHO, the SJs have a more balanced look to them, as like has been said, the new ones are more blade and less handle. And, i kinda like the more balanced look. Just my .02

I understand what you are saying and agree with you. I can still dream that this one is worth $1000 though :D

I'm just glad I paid a small fraction of that for this one.;)

BTW, that is one sexy knife you've got there man. I wouldn't have sold that one either.:cool:

Last year I posted this comparison of a 3/16" SJ to the Proto BOSS Jack. Some of these dimensions may not apply the current BJ variants. The pics may help a little, but a lot of this comes down to how a given knife feels in your hand. We may just have to wait 8 - 10 weeks until folks can get a new BJ to hold. One thing that is clear is that new BJ puts your hand closer to the work than the old SJ design.

Thanks resinguy - you just helped a new boy catch up on his history lessons ! :)
Great comparison...

Hey, Jared, that SHSJ is worthless now, I'll give you whatever you paid for it so you can buy more BJLE =) Seriously though, I didn't know that the LE came in snake.... That thing is sick!

Hmmm, tempting but . . . I don't think so. AFAIK it's a one-of-a-kind. :cool::thumbup:

Good effort though. :p;)

No, it really wasn't a good effort, it wasn't supposed to be. Getting some knives off of some HOGs are just a plain waste of time. And we all know who not to even bother sending a message to! Some of these grail knives are just going to the grave with them.... Money isn't going to do it, you have to have a knife that they want more and dangle that in front of their face till they cave :D But usually you don't want to let go of what they want.... LOL

I'm pretty sure this knife will fill a void for me in a combat blade. Long and narrow enough to be effective at stabbing and slashing, and heavy/sturdy enough for all the chores and abuse I can throw at it.

Really want DC w/tan canvas..... But I don't see me having an extra 330$ around right now. Time to start donating plasma..:D

Well, the info posted has pretty well solved the issue for me. Handle length is the deciding factor. I have a Ratmandu and the handle is really not long enough for a comfortable grip. If the Boss Jack handle is similar I will not be having a Boss Jack user.

On several of the newer Busses I have the same problem that I have with a 1911 pistol with flat mainspring housing. The squared-off corner digs into the lower, meaty part of my hand when gripped tightly.

I will likely buy a Boss Jack LE just to add to the collection but it will be a safe queen.

It's a vicious cycle I know, but sometimes it pays off. ;):D
