Convince me to buy or not to buy the fluted titanium military.

To buy or not to buy?

I regretfully sold my ti millie because of recent $$ spent on fluted ti millie and kw s90v ti/cf. No doubt the fluted ti millie is a better looker with contoured and slimmer handle. However, I found the plain ti millie is actually more comfortable in hand due to the chamfered handle.
I picked up both on Black Friday, I had issues with my KW Ti CF so I swapped liners from an S110v Millie.
The action on the Fluted Ti is perfect but the thicker Ti/CF still hasn’t broken in yet

So, got a fluted Millie in today from one of our BF dealers. Does anyone else have wat feels like an indentation on the presentation side near the pivot?

I voted “no” because the extra price does not get you a better knife. Being the USA made, large, lightweight knife that the G10/G10/liner lock Millie is for ~$150 is what the Millie is great at. IMO that extra dough is better spent on a CRK or Hinderer.

Hello friends. Does the newest version of the fluted ti millie have a larger lanyard hole and larger torx screws? I just bought one, it hasn't arrived yet, but the seller's picture indicates it has the bigger features.

Yes it does. I'm about to get one too and had to check. I think the visual balance of it is deffinately a plus. Goes well with the rest of the milly pm2 p3 family

Some dealers may still have and sell old stocks so make sure you ask or note that you want the one with the latest CQI.

To the poster comparing the base g10/g10 millie and the fluted ti millie, I think the $50 price difference is well worth.

Mine is perfect! Sorry no pic but I’m so glad I bought mine. It’s a work of art! Great blade, perfect lockup and centering, can't say enough good things about it. I love it so much I have the regular titanium model being delivered in a few days.

The only problem I have with it is I’m afraid I’m going to scratch it when I carry/use it. I don’t carry anything else in that pocket when I’m carrying it. Maybe after I get a bit of visible wear on it I’ll be less protective of it. It just looks so perfect now even after months in my pocket.

I’m a horrible knife collector as none of my knives can stay in the box to retain value. I just can’t help putting them in my pocket and breaking them in for a while. They’re knives after all, you have to find out how they carry and cut. I find that the fluted model seems thinner due to the rounded scales, than the regular g10 liner lock model. It’s also surprisingly light and I can forget I’m carrying it. Not an easy feat for a blade this size. Obviously I recommend getting one before they’re gone. If they weren’t so expensive I’d get a spare.

Whoa, whoa, whoa nothing else goes in the knife pocket but the knife! Right. Nothing! LOL but it's true.....

My stuff kind of goes through a phase, at first I don't really want it marked up. then it starts getting a bit worn, then I actually like it the best when things are well worn, used heavily, have character.

So some places have CQI Fluted Militaries?

If you’re going to do it I’d suggest picking one up quick. You can watch them slowly disappearing from internet sites. Quite a few still have them in stock with $220 being about the best price. Other sites still have them for $245/250 and will also sell out soon enough when the cheaper deals get ate up. My guess is you will have a hard time finding one in 2-3 months.

...because it's not really fluted. It's grooved.

From a machining standpoint ‘fluted’ does not mean only interrupted lines (like an expanded metal appearance), it can also mean straight lines or lines in a pattern. Google “fluted toolpath” for more info. CAM programs have options for this and use this terminology.

I got my fluted ti millie--with the CQI features--and this thing is a jewel. Even though I'm left-handed, this baby is my new pride and joy. Ultra-slick opening and bank-vault lock-up. Kudos to Mr. Glesser, with my regrets that this model is going away. It's a real triumph for everyone at Spyderco.
