Convince me to buy the Buck 117

So, where does one find a 117 pro ?
copperandclad is the place... simple .com on the end, its the only place with all the good buck variants that I know of
(over on the buck forum they're often mentioned of course)

Sorry to hear that. After your post I looked around and guessing you purchased the last 117 Pro from DLT Trading (?).
Heading to a big knife show next Friday, maybe I'll come across a similar "deal".

I got it from Chicago Knife Works. I’m disappointed in USPS. My Buck 110 I ordered took almost 12 days to arrive when it used to take 2-3

Some 117 eye candy.
I have 117’s and liked them a lot until I got a 212. 212’s are hard to find, but a modified 103 (Dave Martin Special) is actually a better cheaper knife.

Often when I carry a large fixed blade I missed my 110, I don’t miss my 110 if I have 212 or modified 103.

If you have the time this thread may interest you.

With all that said. In my youth during my most active outdoor years the 110 was my constant companion it never disappointed me.

I have a Marbles Fieldcraft fixed blade, it has a 3 5/8" (or so) blade and is smaller than my Marbles Woodcraft with a 4 1/2" blade.
The Fieldcraft has a corresponding smaller stacked leather handle compared to it's larger brother, the Woodcraft.
I think the Buck 212 would look/feel more balanced if the handle would be a bit shorter to "fit" with the shorter blade.

Nope. The handle has to fit a hand, being proportional to the blade is just silly. It’s full size handle is part of what makes the 212 great.
