Rick Menefee turned me on to this stuff, he calls if butterscotch. I love it.

Kyle just finished a damascus piece with it and I did a fillet knife for me.

Micarta, especially paper micarta, remains my favorite synthetic handle material. Never saw "butterscotch" but it reminds me of old/aged ivory micarta. Nice feel and durable for a hard working knife around water.

Great stuff Don and Kyle! That is some creamy material. Like it a lot.

Hope that fillet knife gets a ton of use this next week.

Great combination Don, I love the look of a forged blade finished out with a micarta handle, seems to have been such a no no for several years. Hope more smiths loosen up and follow your lead, as well as the other smiths getting back to using an excellent, tough and traditional material.

Haha

I never thought I'd see " Don Hanson" and "Micarta" in the same thread :D

What's next - S30V and CF????

what is the world coming to....:p

Looking good Don! If you have too much of that stuff, I'd gladly help you out. ;)

Ummmmm, not really into it..........
But I did just receive my First micarta handled knife yesterday.

Looking good.
Kylie's work with the tapered tang and red liner is good stuff.

I am curious, will this stuff stay yellow or turn brown with age?
