I was at JRE Industries this morning picking up a new sheath for my Cultie, when I told Spen I would like a smaller custom version of their strop to put in my pack. He paused, and then pulled out this strop, fresh from prototype. I bought it of course. It is not on their website yet, but if email them and say you want one, and saw it on this forum, it will only cost you $10. The price if you forget to mention the forum is $10.:D Moderators, the only reason I put the price is that it is not on their website yet.

I just went with the way the video had it on KSF. Used a paint stick:Free and a few scraps of leather:super cheap. Cut the paint stick in half and voila. compact, and double sided. also woks with sandpaper on top for the convexers out there.

That's slick. How long is it?

How small does it roll up?

B

The compound area is around 10" long x 1.5" wide. It rolls up to 2.25" x 1.5". It also has a shock cord loop so that you can hang the strop from a tree or put your foot through the loop.

Nice. Can you slip the shock cord around the rolled up strop to keep it from opening up in your pack?

Thanks,

B

Exactly, sorry I don't take great pictures. The shock cord keeps everything compact. There is also a detail on the handle that is pretty cool. There is a slot cut just above the handle to loop the handle through. You can hold the strop with one finger and the tag end of the handle acts like a guard for your hand.

Very slick.

I'm headed to Schaumburg today with the kids so maybe I'll swing out their way to see if I can get an up-close look at one of these. :)

Thanks,

B

I got to play with one of these field strops today in the woods. I think the finger loop is an extremely slick idea and worked very well and the whole shebang coils up SMALL if you take a few extra seconds to work it down.

I really like that black compound they load it with but Dan and Spen mentioned that they'd also load them with green if a customer requested it.

Great stuff.

I've been looking for something exactly like that...I'm going to inquire about one right now:thumbup:

You were in town  Waterbury??

Friday I took the kids to Lego DiscoveryLand at Streets of Woodfield. What a ZOO!

Saturday I got out in the woods with Dan and Spen to shoot a video and get some fresh air.
