Hey guys, something that I have been playing around with lately.I can't claim the design as my own I saw it on this cool "primitive ways" website think that this is a very useful little "trick" if done well it is safe sheath. It has the advantage that it can be made a faster that a normal leather sheath and no special leather craft tools are needed http://www.primitiveways.com/pt-knifesheath.html

So I just made this littel neck knife using oak burl and thought that I would give it a try.

Also made one for my sloyd knife just waiting on my vinegaroon mix to color the leather, the shape of this sloyd kinfe seem to work better with this design.

This actually makes a lot of sense to me. I had seen skirt sheaths before - and I never knew why they existed. The ones I had seen was all sewn - but I wager it was based on the design you have created.

Nice.

I really like what appears to be a one piece design , I have a short bladed Mora with a fat handle and this design would be perfect for a neck knife setup. Also a combination of leather and birtch bark would be cool.

Right on, that turned out great! I love that sheath design, as anyone with a piece of leather and a knife can make one.

I made one of these as my very first sheath. I made it for my mora 'cause I didn't like that plastic thing that comes with it.
