I went canoeing/fishing yesterday. Took two of the cooling scarves. Kept one on ice while wearing the other. It felt good for a few minutes , then would suufocate you. It was a relief to get the thing off. They may work well in drier climates but not in Missouri.

I agree with this post. I live in Houston with REALLY high humidity. There is less air in the air (to breathe) and less ability to cool with any kind of evaporation (sweat works less).

Same reason that air conditioners using evaporative cooling work well in Phoenix but not Memphis.

Same reason why it's easy to become victim to dehydration and heat exhaustion in damp climates. The human body is made like an evaporative cooler, sweating to stay cool. But if the sweat doesn't evaporate, the body can't cool itself, and so sweats even more.

Thought I was going to die the last time I worked in Eastern Oklahoma. Couldn't cool off, and couldn't possibly drink enough to keep up with the sweating. Exactly how much sweat is needed to completely soak a pair of BDU pants to the point of dripping off the leg cuffs?

Here in CA its not so humid .... Of course today i would be completly wrong. Its so humid that im over heating right now.. Here is a cool site Some of the sport bike riders wear those jackets.. Yes they work extremly good as we keep moving.. But for some people its actualy getts too cold if you can belive it..

I have used one yesterday driving close to death valley. it was a life saver as my car has no A\C, put it on the head and it feel as you have an ice cube on top of your head.
