Coombs/Tanguay Collaboration Prototypes ready! Many Pics.

Fantastic work, guys,I think you've got a good thing going here.:thumbup:

Those prototypes look awesome. What's next?

Thanks alot! We really appreciate all the feedback.

Whats next is 25 serial numbered DK Companions (we've already started on them) followed by 75 non-serial numbered knives. The DK Companion will be a regular offering from us from now on.

We will introduce a new model at least once a year. Our next model will be a very limited number of fancy bird & trout/small game knives. They will be geared towards the discriminating sportsman and fly fisherman. Scott and I are still working out the details. We want something very unique here, especially in the sheath offerings.

We have five other models already in mind going fwd. These will all be a collaboration between Scott and I. In addition to our collaboration knives under the name Downeast Knife Company, we are both continuing with our individual custom knives (Coombs Handmade and Tanguay Custom Knives) as well.

I'm off to the show....

Those are awesome... I haven't found it, but can you let us know what these are going to sell for price-wise? Add me to your mailing list if you have any left over after the show. ericmoss@cox.net :D

http://downeastknife.com has the basic prices and the store is taking pre-orders for the production run. Serialized are $50 more I think. Prototypes I read in one of the threads are all pre-sold.

Nice looking new BLOG. Shaman did well with this!

Thanks. I just set up the tool and consolidated Scott and Lamont post from here on BF, with some picture resizing.

The nifty thing though is I was able to add in feeds and subscriptions.

While they get a lot of interest through Knife Forums, we're setting up the website to try and appeal to anyone looking for a custom knife and to be able to keep up with the new company as well.

I hope it is coming out ok. These guys are putting a lot of their lives into their product. I am just trying to help get the website up to par with their knife product. ;)

Hello all,

The first batch of Companion blades, serial numbers 1-25, plus a few of the non-numbered blades are on their way to Bos Heat Treating. Lamont knocked out the blade grinding himself last week (I was on vacation!!) and together we prepped and mailed them last Friday. We should have them back in about two weeks, which puts us right on schedule for our estimated April 1st delivery date.

We'll be in touch with all of you who placed orders for both the first 25 serial numbered knives, as well as the non-numbered knives. We'll also be making up a bunch in different configurations to sell here in the Makers For Sale, Fixed Blades, section. They should start showing up there in a few weeks. We'll keep you posted.

Thanks!
Scott

Interesting.......with the oppurtunity of a job for myself I think one of these work-horses might arrive here sooner than I thought....... ;)

I have said it before, but everyone needs to get one of these knives.

I got one of the prototypes and these things are awesome.

No updates, no notice. So don't worry about being spammed when there is nothing new.

That blade is practical and functional, and the USMC engraving is a thing of beauty. Great work!

Hi All. Quick Update for everyone...
We got 28 blades back from Paul Bos Heat Treating today. They look fantastic. Lamont and I will start building some knives first thing Wednesday morning. If you are on the order list, I'll be in touch with you in the next week or so. We should have some up for sale over in the Maker's for sale section next week. We'll also be in Marlboro, Ma. at the show on March 30th with a bunch.

Thanks!
Scott

Excellent news Scott! I hope to get a job at a local Architecture office soon. If I do you can count on me getting one there! :D

My Downeast Knife Company - Companion came in today.
Extremely good ergonomics and wicked sharp, hair shaving sharp.

I'll be practicing taking knife pictures and will post some pictures of my Benchmade 722SBT, BM210, Buck 802SS and of course the new Companion.

My first three attempts, and it is harder than it looks!
Anyone have some pointers?
