• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Coop's been busy Here's another

You did well my friend, Congratulations. I am not normally attracted to fixed blades, but that one is calling my name. Coop, no words can adequately describe your talents for bringing out the best, congratulations to you as well.
Jim

Don thats really super nice. Whats the blueish tint on the blade. Just lighting?
I'm glad you are pointing that out. No, that's not simple lighting. THAT is the actual color of the steel. I've never seen anything like it. It has bluish veins thoroughout.

I love how the layers aren't too dense and you can see them merge at the tip. Perfecto!

Man, Coops hit list is just growing and growing. Thats two Coop titles in a day!!!!
Yeah, Don sure knows when to hit the ball in the strike zone. :jerkit: :p  Kyle's was forgivable.

I am with Bill, from the "sunfish days" I have not seen a knife from Don that I would not enjoy owning.

Wow! Stunning, absolutely stunning! What method was utilized to attach the bolsters, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks much, folks!

Jon, I did a chemical bluing after etching, then a good rub with 2500 grit paper to make the blue more subtle. I don't like wildly colored damascus at all but I really like how this came out.

aktoklat, the bolsters have hidden pins that are press fit. I also used a Locktite glue that has great adhesion strength to seal the joint.

That damascus is epic!! Not crazy about the handle material, but that's just personal taste.

The damascus reminds me so much of Van Gogh' s Starry Night, it's absolutely beautiful. What's the name for that type of pattern?

Don, thanks for answering my question. I love the handle, finding a piece of Mammoth with that much blue on it is hard to find. When I lived in Fairbanks I found a piece almost as nicely shaded. I still have an extra large slab set I purchased from Rick Fields over twenty years ago!

Jared, it's just a random pattern, forged to shape. Van Gogh' s Starry Night? Thanks!

aktoklat, finding blue ivory scales large enough for a knife this size is even harder.:)
Some of the first mammoth and walrus I ever used was from Rick Fields, he always had the good stuff.

BTW, This has a 9.5" blade and a 15" OAL.
