Hi Sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask this question. I searched this topic and haven't really found a clear answer.......
I'm planning to buy a new Coote grinder. Will be wired up with 3/4 hp, 1725rpm motor OR a 2hp, 1750rpm motor. Norm Coote advised contact wheel size doesn't matter if not hollow grinding. What's the difference between a 6" and 8" then...? If it doesn't matter I'm confused why they even make both sizes. Thanks

What the difference is , is how high up the blade you can grind on how thick of material. If the material is thin the smaller wheel will want to grind deep . I oridginal had a 8" wheel and then got a 10" If my grinder would handle it I believe I would get a 12" or perhaps a 14".

Ok gotcha. My typical grinds are convex, scandi, and saber so figured a safe bet would be the 8". Hopefully that will work ok lol

Ok so the larger the contact wheel the faster the potential speed? Also I have access to a 1.5hp Baldor motor but is 3450rpm. Would it be possible to use that?
