alright its time but what do I get in know everyone that has a coote is going to tell me thats what I should get and everyone with a griz is going to tell me they love it and all you a$$es with the KMG (jealous) tell me to get that but its between the coote and griz. griz is cheaper (because already has motor) coote just looks like a better built machine and I will have the option of making it varible speed its sounds like I have my mind made up but I was going to run this past everyone for the tenth time and see what you thought:D

Get the Coote you will like it, you can add on the small wheel, well worth it, not to mention since you mentioned it the speed control.
Cheers Ron.

From what I heard of the grizzly, that 100 something dollar difference will cost you. I have one, mounted solidly with a 1725rpm motor with a 3 speed pulley setup (Ordered from Mr. Coote as well). I run it as slow as it goes and it's smooth and solid.

I have a Grizzly and although it's a beast, it's very limited. You need a 10" wheel for any kind of hollow grinding (The 8" wheel barely clears the motor housing on the left side), and it only has one speed (wide open). The Coote seems to be a better design. If you gotta have the buffer, get a dedicated machine for that and keep it away from your grinder.

I have since upgraded to KMG, Heh Heh!

As a Grizzly owner, I'd recommend the Coote as well. Of course, most of us would jump for a KMG if possible.

I don't have a grizzly, but I do have a Coote. After many hours of research I decided that it is the best all around value in the 2 by 72 grinder market. Go for the Coote, you will be happy you did.

Mine is just over a year old, I have made about 50 or so knives and it is a solid as the day it arrived.

Coote, get the 10" wheel and the aluminum flat grinding attachment then you can buy the $20 box of abrasive's from Klingspore, and some contact cement,
(the fine and medium from Klinspore are great but the coarse is too coarse to use on anything)
plus with the Coote if the motor quits ya a trip to the dump will get you going again,

Yeah, I think that's the best of all worlds. You can never have too many grinders! :D I kept and still use my TKS 2 X 48 hobby machine even after I got the real thing (Bader B3, which I got before I knew about the KMG or this forum).

I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about their Coote, which cannot be said of the Griz.

My opinion is get the Grizzly or the KMG. I've had all three, actually four (2 KMG's, one was stolen years ago) and I'm back to the ol' KMG. If you buy a KMG that'll be the final and best grinder you can get.

As another grizzly owner, I would say go with the coote. My grizzly vibrates way to much and the platen has worn out way too soon.:(
