Copper-Back Musso Bowie

Rick that is... well, what everyone above has said. For me its certainly one of, if not the, favorite of all your work.

"Artisan Bladesmith" fits you well.

Very cool Rick. It would not surprise me if people started wanting copies of the plans for the MARCHAND BOWIE!

Can't believe how well you've managed to take such an established knife and truly make it yours...

Phenomenal work, man. It works on every level. Fabulous!!!

Way to go Rick. You've really put your name on this one. I am particularly fond of, and I mean VERY fond of the guard and the coined seppa. Those two elements elevate this piece and make the handle treatment work by classing up the middle of the knife. The detail shot in the Point Seven photo shows what makes this one so special.

Clearly a lot of workmanship, thought and man hours went into this.

.....but...

But allow me to put a big fat question mark next to the claims of the Musso Bowie being a 'classic' design and an 'established' design (not that the OP claimed this).

NB This takes nothing away from the OPs fine work. A highly competent & qualified knifemaker no doubt.

I dont mean to derail the thread and hope its okay to mention the above.

Back to the knife.

I realy like it how you took an regonisable classic and gave it your own twist without doing it unjustice
Well done!

I just love this knife. 'Elemental and authentic' sprang to mind. Followed by 'old school badass'. Really well done.

I really like really big bowies 12 inch blade and above I really like the rustic cowboy stuff your is one of the best ive seen in the big bowie range Id be hackin thru the woods on my horse with that one! make a bunch of those bowies!

Wicked take on an already wicked classic.
Great work, Rick !

Doug

I've always loved your work but this one simply blows me away.

I had the pleasure of examining this knife at BLADE. In addition to looking great, it balances and handles superbly.
