I'm looking or copper corby rivets but have not had much success. I've found several places in the UK but none here in the US.

You see, I'm makin my wife a fixed blade bushcraft knife and she wants denim micarta scales. I have seen copper rivets done with denim micarta and the two paired very well together.

Thanks in advance guys!

I'd recommend you just use copper pins and peen them. Domed and polished copper pins would be really slick.

Tracy at USA Knife Maker Supply has the Corby bolts made up in copper (in 3 sizes I believe).

Finding a machinist to make them is probably a real PITA. Most of us just think of Copper as being really soft (which it is) but it's a bitch to machine. It's very gummy and as we all know, it gets super hot just looking at it sideways.

If you do use them with the denim micarta, be VERY careful with shaping or you'll end up burning the area around the bolt in a hurry.

I've used the copper corbies from USA several times, they work just fine. You do have to a bit gentle with them like Nick said. Copper conducts heat very well, of course. But not over-heating bolts/pins is good practice no matter what material you're using.

That's also true... Tracy talked about how hard it was to get a bunch of them made when he was getting the project started.

I have used copper corby bolts a number of times. Make sure the hole where the head is isnt too tight or you will not be able to screw it in. You will just keep slipping off and screwing up the slot to where it will be unusable.
