Copper Pins?

Hi everyone. I'm about to try my hand at building a friction folder and was thinking about using black Micarta scales with copper liners and pins. I know copper can be difficult to work with but what do you all think about a copper pivot pin? Would that be too soft? The knife itself isn't going to be big probably a 2.5 - 3" blade. Thanks!

Thanks Lieblad. That's what I suspected since I've only seen copper pins on fixed blade knives but wanted to see what the experts here thought. I appreciate your feedback. I'll go ahead with nickel pins. Now to practice my hollow grinds.
