Can anyone direct me to a source for 1/8" & 3/32" diameter rod or pins in copper ? TIA ,-Vince

Call around to local hobby stores and ask if they have a K&S metal display, The copper they carry is a good aloy that seems a bit harder then say typical copper wire and takes a good shine

Also if you are cheap like me and have some copper wire laying around 12 agw or thicker you can stick one end in a vise and the other end in a drill and make your own rod, I swear its like a miracle, you can take a bent up piece of garbage and make a perfectly straight rod by pulling and twisting at the same time, and it seems to work harden too ;0)

EDIT The wire needs to be round to start with, egg shape or flat on one side will not work

I also like to use copper nails intended for gutters and roofing. The 1/8" ones are usually just under an actual eighth, and that works out perfectly.

Is copper corrosion a problem?
I was thinking of using a quarter (coin) as a guard, but I know they have a copper core. Will that become a problem later?
Or is it fine as long as I take the same kinds of precautions I would take with a carbon steel blade?

I've used copper as spacers, liners and pins and never had an issue. Its used as a guard lots of times and a ferrule as well.

i use copper wire and work harden it then get it close to size (a good source of pinstock woul dbe handy at times )
