Copper Spacers

Would it be ok to buy copper tubing at the hardware store and cut it/flatten it out?

I've done it that way. Slice one side, then start to flatten it out. You will have to anneal it before you get it compeltely flat, otherwise it will start to work harden and kink. Once you get it nice and flat, then sand it until completely flat.

... Or get copper flashing like kuraki suggested :p

If you have a Lowes hardware store near you go to the fasteners aisle. In that aisle you should find specialty fastener bins (plastic cabinets with drawers). In one of those drawers you should find "hobby metals" or something like that which will be smaller flat sheets of copper and brass.

Jantz Knife Supply sells copper sheet stock in a couple thicknesses and a couple sizes.. I think you can buy 5"x 10" sheets of stock that is about
. 28 or .30 thick if I remember. I have used it several times and it was not that expensive. Larry

I'd definitely order flat sheet stock before I cut and flattened out tubing. Time is money and you'll end up with a cleaner better finished product.
