Copper v Brass

Copper and brass if he does such.View attachment 681652

Man, I absolutely love that combo handled knife. Mind sharing more about it?

I have a hard time choosing between those two metals quite often. Love them both. But here's a recent (though recycled) pic in copper.

Looks good! The bolsters on mine are getting some patina & fine scratches from being carried, but what I've really come to love is the colors of the "root beer" handles.

The copper handled Mercator knife arrived yesterday, two days early. I'll be posting a review in the traditional forum this coming week, after I've had a few more days with it, but for now I can say it is one of my new favorite things. Here it is with two other favorite things.

Very nice! I have to say all those fabulous looking Ka-bars have really got my "want one/need one" buttons pushed. Looking forward to the review Zieg, and use it in good health(read:keep it sharp here). Nice, classic knife.
Thanks, Neal

No doubt. The other night I shined a flashlight on the coppersmith, and the scale almost took on a purple translucent color. Looks a little different in every light. And I recently started over on the patina. One bolster looked great, but the other was overtaken by a solid thumbprint that just kept getting darker. So I shined it up, and the current color is just from sitting on a shelf for a few. It's about time to get it back into use. Also did similar to both flashlights when I tried to buff out a couple of scratches that seemed to stand out more than others. They don't need to be perfect, but I still like to admire them occasionally. [emoji2]

I have a normal steel bodied Mercator lock back that gets carried quite a lot, would love a copper one.

Does anyone know of bronze being used on any current knives, custom or production? I can't recall seeing any, but that means little, as my brain is a sieve lately. I would be interested to see or read about any.
Thanks, Neal

Below is the latest slip-joint folder I've made, brass one piece body folded from sheet, O1 65mm blade. Made from 5 parts, body, blade, spring & 2 rivets.

Very nice.

Having recently discovered the Merkators I find myself wondering if I should get the copper or brass. I believe they are making a copper version with a pocket clip now. Decisions, decisions.
