Copperhead Corner

Here's a Case Vintage stag Copperhead.

I hope this counts.

I think it definitely counts. It is a little closer to the Case version in handle shape and has a different blade load out, but it is a very nice piece of equiment. It is kind of a hybrid maybe, but the copperhead linage definitely shows.

is there such a thing as a spearpoint lockback copperhead?

I have a Weidmannsheil Barehead stag 4.25" knife that is Copperhead, Spear (Zulu type even) and it unlocks by depressing the minor blade towards the handle. Not lockback no, but locking.

Thanks, Will

Great to see so many other copperheads!

Here's a Boker Copperhead w/ "washboard bone" that recently came my way:

Closed length: 3-3/4"
Blades: Solingen carbon

I really like this knife, from the unusual scales right down to the reverse-frost etched "King Kutter" on the blade:

I'm continually impressed with the attention to detail on "Tree Brand" knives. Springs are a smooth 5 out of 10, but with a nice, crisp snap right at either end of the blade travel. F&F is close to flawless, and edges arrived wicked sharp, as they have on every Tree Brand I've purchased. Alignment is also quite good:

Impressive Boker quality throughout, and for a surprisingly modest price.

Really like that Washboard Bone, got a Böker lockback in this and also a Whitler&Canoe in the Green Wasboard Bone (not as appealing as the tan-brown version though). I tend to much prefer the Copperhead over say a Trapper but I feel it's a pattern that often gets (wrongly) overlooked.

Thanks to Ron (Half/Stop), I am the proud owner of not only my first Robert Klauss Kissing Crane, but my first Copperhead... in stag, no less. Here's a quick pic that really doesn't do the knife justice... it's a beauty!

Already in my pocket. I will enjoy using it... starting today. Thanks again, Ron!  Wow!

Here is a mod I did on a copperlock.

I was never really a fan of the pattern until I got to handle one. I have a mini copperlock that I picked up off the exchange, and I think I have a nice Queen Copperhead also, I'll have to dig that out for a pic

Fantastic renovation on that Copperlock, Glenn! That Stag....:thumbup::thumbup:

Very good to see this thread back under consideration, the Copperhead is a bit of a marginalized pattern, shame really. Mind you, if GEC did an SFO of one it would no doubt become manically sought after and thus everywhere :D Böker do a very good rendering of this pattern and it's far from costly, here's one to consider:

Al - My pleasure, I hope it will serve you well :)

Thanks again for that sweet Camillus. :D

Nice to see this thread revived. The Case Copperhead and Mini Copperheads are among my favorite patterns. I even have pics of some of mine.

I have a few more but haven't gotten around to taking pics.

They really are a great large jack knife pattern. A little smaller than the full-sized Trapper but with a pointier clip blade and that nice long pen secondary.

Nice one, Al, and very nice of you, Ron.

I have two copperheads: a modified Boker:

And a Case Copperlock.

I really like the way the bolster hides the tang. Makes them very comfortable to carry.

What, no Rough Rider or Colt copperheads?? I have both. Reground the skinner blade on the RR to a long pen blade (not need for a skinner blade here). Both good knives.

Here is my Case Copperhead. I love this knife dearly. It is a 1973. I got it new at an auction 4 years ago for $35! This knife is in my pocket when I am Fishing, Hunting and Hiking.

The case models with Wharncliffe blades are just tremendous. I have several mini-copperheads with them , as well as a yellow handled Copperlock with wharnie. That A.G. Russell Cattaragus example above is fantastic, love the locking mechanism. Don't own one but I'd like to one day, they do pop up here and there pretty regularly. I honestly thought the 64 or 65 by GEC was their take on a copperhead. Maybe not? I was debating whether to get out my #99 farmers lock, but now I think maybe I'll have to slip that yellow Case Copperlock in my pocket instead. Love this pattern(s), hopefully someone smarter than me will post up some pics, to go with my verbiage.(eye roll)
Thanks, Neal

This Mini Copperhead is one of my favourite RR knives and I carry it a great deal, also have one backup copy just in case... Its Clip blade is usefully large for a small knife, nor is there any blade-rub.
