Hey, been gone a while guys, sorry. RCMP here in Kelowna seized my collection illegally and I'm fighting to get it back. I am moving right now to other end of town and recently picked up a non-Schrade masterpiece.

It's from Phillipines, circa 1860 with Gaboon ebony and human(!) bone handle. NICE! Museum quality but I still love Schrade best. My EDC lately has been mainly a Buck 112 but I recently bought a Buck "bearpaw" too: Buck's 100 Anniversary LB-7 copy with actual bearpaw-cutout on blade (#73 out of 100 limited edition) so now I have 2 Bucks as well.

I miss all you guys!!! Been super busy! Looking forward to BC Schrade-head meeting this coming summer.

Rock on and cheers!

What?

Why did they take your knives?

Tell us more

Guess I wont be bringing any of my collection to Canada..
Need to hear the why's and wherefores..
Dell where are you?

Del, man it's sure been a while since we've heard from him! Probably can't move under the weight of all those D'Holders:eek::D:D

C'mon Dave, don't leave us hanging here
What was their reasoning behind the seizure?

Eric

I definitely would like to hear the full unbiased story as i live in B.C. too, and have a great many knives("hello, dispatch ?, Constable Psycho here; better send the Semi instead. ya, he's got way more than we figured").
The R.C.M.P. have much discretionary powers which many have been abusing in the last 5 or so years here in B.C.
if you get Canadian news: shooting a 22 yr. old in the back of the head for trying to take 1 opened can of beer into a local hockey arena, etc., etc., etc.
almost every week another police killing or severely beating an unarmed man, for no reasons.
in my 63 years i have never been afraid of the R.C.M.P., but i am now. it's as though there is mass Post Traumatic Stress Disorder within the force.
i was charged with assault by my daughter's mother. completely spurious. there was no assault, but there is a psychiatric disorder and the police know it, and knew the story was total fabrication, but decided to throw the book at me anyway.
i was charged (x4); took 2 years and $25,000 to work it's way through the Criminal "Justice" system before charges were dropped because my accuser did not show despite a subpeona, to avoid cross examination.
during this time there were restrictions on my movements, my 7 hunting rifles (which are registered with the Federal Gov't by Law) were confiscated and my knife collection would have been too if they had known i had one.
that's at the discretion of the R.C.M.P. they decide if knives are a tool or a weapon when a ban on owning weapons is issued by the Courts.
perhaps my saga is more than you care to hear.
my point is : we are in extreme reactionary times in Canada where individual freedoms are steadily being removed and the enforcement is by a Police force gone mad.
i'm just a peaceful 63 yr. old retired M.D. and all this happened as a total surprise, out of the blue. it changed me forever.

In a way, I'm relieved to know that I won't be around to see how the rest of this new century plays out. I've always been aware of the pendulum swings in social and political change, but this is too Orwellian for me. What's next? Thoughtcrime?

So what happened?

I too am worried, living in the thick of it!
The RCMP have totally lost their "Dudley DoRight" image, because of very poor leadership.
They arrested my ex-police (a faultless and distinguished career in Vancouver) friend who is a gun dealer from his home on trumped up charges. They had his whole family, two sons and his absolutely lovely wife sit in jail over the weekend (the "raid" was on friday of course!), and took everything that looked like a weapon, from his home, and all their computers. Fortunately wisdom has prevailed in the courts.
The sergeant in charge has been transferred to the cold North. Others have been transferred far away. Let the lawsuits begin!!!

But, what happened to your knives, and where is the Schrade- thing happening?? I gotta be there!!

Michael: "I'm relieved to know that I won't be around to see how the rest of this new century plays out."
well certainly not until the end of it, but this has an ominous tone. do you think you are leaving soon ?
i realize this thread has become rather serious, but i feel we are all friends who use this forum, and as such intentions are supportive.

:grumpy::mad: Da-- I thought we Americans were getting in a bad way BUT you Canucks have us beat like drum. I hate to hear a Gubmint taking away a mans/womans rights and a law enforcement arm:confused: that appears to be corrupt to boot:o!!? Dave, Charlie, Roland take care and be CAREFULL!!

Dave fill us in here and I hope there is a good answer/outcome to your situation!!?

Welllllll....

Long story short... I was ill with my Bipolar disorder and cops "Seized" my whole collection. Didn't give me a receipt (were supposed to) and only gave me four back. They seized about 14 or so. I am missing my "Bubba Claus", Harry Gant, Scm-5, 4-pin Lb-7, two UH167s, grohmann jump knife, sas-15 and sas-14 sheaths, my Ma-6 etc etc. They tell me they are "lost" somewhere in Kelowna property (evidence) room but are giving me the run-around. I may have to fight to get them back through RCMP Ottawa complaints process. Personally I think some cop just wanted them and is keeping them. My word against theirs as-they-say. I'm using public pc's lately so I don't have as much time now as usual for long-winded Dave-style replies. I miss my Schrade-friends! ttyl

Roland: K-Town RCMP are (really hard) to deal with. I hope Kooteny cops are kinder.

I wanna hear about it too, and what is the BC Schrade-head meeting?

Waynorth, Tongueriver, Roland and I might meet up this summer for show and tell so to speak. I have a special way with lockbacks. I can now hand-hone the walk to perfection etc. My skills are formidable and I'd like to share knife and bushcraft skills etc. The more the merrier!!!!
