Corbett Sigman was a great maker. He passed away a few years ago. Every fall, around hunting season, he would make up a batch of Utility Hunter knives. They featured whatever wood he had the most of at the time, and had belt satin finishes instead of his wonderful mirror polish....he did not take orders for them. He called the wood in this batch "Kingwood", but I think it is Tulip wood.

When I was a kid in the 70's my dad had a friend that lived in Red House that knew Corbet and he took me and my dad to meet him. He showed us his shop and told me some stuff about knives. I thought he was a kind person to be nice to a maybe 13 year old kid.

Why is the Large Trailing Point $100 less than the small ? Is there some aspect of the larger that you feel detracts from it ?
thank you, roland

The Larger Trailing Point has some pitting on both the spine and the face of the blade, making it less desirable to a collector, and is priced accordingly.

It is in fact, a smoking deal.
