I have done Corian Knife scales on Cold Steel GI Tanto's. Inexpensive knives, perfect for experimenting with. I've done 3 GI tanto's. 1 set of scales broke while throwing the Knife at a tree and it DIDn't hit the target, one I gave away as a Christmas present advising NOT to use as a throwing knife, and one I currently carry every other day. The Material Does come in many different colors and if Fabricated correctly, one can easily change out the scales often to give your favorite knife a different look...even a different feel depending on the design of the fabricated product. I recently acquired new material and a different color and am planning on taking of the corian Scales I currently have and making new scales with this color. A bit thicker tho so it will fit snuggly in my sheath. One can also do inlay's with a Dremel engraving tool, some acrylic paint, and some gorilla apoxy. Expect a lot of sanding and some touching up with Super Glue Tho!
I have also used corian as scales for Damascus Blades I purchased from Amazon.com. I've done 4 of them and they turned out great. If dropped tho, have some sand paper handy, 100 60 30 and some 3M Fine and superfine grit pads! They were all Gifts for my family. I am hoping to find a Bigger Damascus Blade to make a knife of my own with Corian. I also want to invest in a BK7 to do some corian scales for that!
