I was playing around with the cork belts I recently aquired and wow what a nice finish.I went through the grits up to 600 with some green compound.I took the blade outside to get a better look because I couldn't believe how nice it looks.
Dont ya just hate it when you get all excited about something and you rush in to play showandtell with the wife, and she goes " that's nice" (in a very uninterested tone):grumpy:
Hopefully You guys understand where i'm coming from.If you havent had the chance to try these blts you are missing somthing.Oh this was a hollow grind by the way.Not sure if it would look quite the same on a flat grind.

Mark, lots of makers have been going from rough grind, 40-60 grit, straight to 400 grit cork belts, or 3M A45 Trizac, or the Norton equivalent. There is a thread on it at CKD, in the Steve Johnson forum.
you will no doubt, have to search back a couple of months.
It saves a lot of time, and belts, which means $$$. :D

I went over there and found some of the links.

Question for you Mike,I start with a Norton 50 grit and then move to a Norex U264 to clean up the 50 grit and it really smooths everything out.I would like to try the Cork belts but I like rounded shoulders on my plungs, will a worn cork belt flex around the edge of the wheel to keep my rounded shoulders?
Thanks
