Correct spacers and pivot sizes?

I have been trying to find info on this but cant seem to find details.
Im wondering. Since bar stock has slight variances.
Ex: some of my 1/8" 1084 from Aldo calipers at about .128". Now, how exact do the standoffs/spacers need to be, and how do I know what sizes to order when the blade steel comes slightly different each time?
Is this adjustable with bigger or smaller washers on the pivot?
Literally just getting into folders so this is all very new to me.

You have to "make" the metal to correct thickness - ±.0005" is usually pretty good. That's a reason many (most?) folder makers use precision ground metal, so the thickness will be correct.

Your stand offs and spacers will be determined by the total width of your blade and washers.

So after you make your blade put on the washers and do the math for the spacer.

Just because you start with precision ground stock does not mean the original dimension is what you will end up with

I can't even imagine trying to make folders without the ability to thickness parts accurately to (at least) the nearest thousandth. When I start a knife, I already know how thick my washers/bearings are going to be based on the model. I look at my material selection and decide how thick my backspacer and blade need to be to make the whole package look and work right. I always set the final thickness of my blade based on the finished backspacer.
