I was wondering what folks thought would be the "Proper" thickness for bolsters on a blade that is 1/8 thick? Thanks in advance for your opinion.

What ever is comfortable. I usually use 1/2"-3/4" wide stock for guards on hunters. I use hidden tang mostly so that would be about 1/4 less for the blade and what ever is left I'm guessing would be bolster

For bolsters on an 1/8" steel blade anywhere between 1/8" and no more than a 1/4".
Mine are usually 1/8" at the blade and taper up to 3/16" to a 1/4"

My hunter sized knives usually end up with the guard / bolster thickness being 1/2" to 5/8". Start with a 1/4" thick piece on each side of the blade (1/4 +1/4 + 1/8 = 5/8) and reduce the thickness as you see fit.
