Cosimo De BENEDETTO

My name has been mentioned for a while on BF and I owe this to my great friend Jean Marc (Achillepattada)
My first experience with knives, dates back to 2010 with building 2/3 fixed blade knives a year.
Only in 2019, after seeing some slipjoint (Tony Bose, Bill Ruple, Ricardo Romano etc..) I was
fascinated and decided to start building them.

I started with little equipment inside my garage however with a lot of desire to do ...
My tools were a few files and a drill, I was reading anything related to knife making,
watched tutorials on youtube.
My first slipjoint were not very fascinating, now with the help of some BF members/Friends I am trying to correct some flaws on my works

Finally after 5 years I found the courage to submit my work to an exhibition "Coltelli ai Castelli"
It was a great experience, I saw wonderful works of other makers, got to meet and
talk with Knifemakers of the highest caliber, I mention only a few among them the great Sardinian knifemakers, Gigi Sechi and Giuseppe Galante, the wonderful knives of Denis Mura, Riccardo Mainolfi, Franco Bonassi and many others.
And with great surprise , I received the award for the best folding knife (slipjoint).

I would also like to thank all my forum friends for the trust they are giving me by taking of my work

#5 checking in 😊😎 Heirloom sums it well. Perfect action, heft, and size. Extremely grateful to be a part of this. Thanks to Paul @Jakeywax31 for teeing up and coordinating the build, Jeremy @sbh06 for the beautiful matched supple slip, and kudos to maker Cosimo De Benedetto Cosimo De Benedetto - appreciate the insights about your beginnings. I think waynorth waynorth might appreciate the size and action on these 😉 Biggest shout out to Angry Waiter Angry Waiter . Love you brother. Horsemen ride 🐎

Glad yours arrived and you can appreciate Cosimo's skills.😍

Hello Ray RayseM RayseM ,

You're absolutely right, some very good Italian knife-makers are not the best sells specialists you will find 🤣
But I can't insure you that it's not because they have too many customers or want to select them. Sometimes they are only not confortale with marketing, some other time they don't realize immediately they could have clients all around the world (you will agree that gaining the trust of American enthusiasts is not so easy ;)), etc
But be sure that I will help Cosimo to satisfy your curiosity 😁🍻

I am sure Cosimo has our trust in his abilities now. I look forward to seeing many more of his knives here.
Cosimo continues to show his talents in every knife he makes.

Hi RayseM,
thanks for all the compliments.
Unfortunately I had to make my FB and IG profiles PRIVATE, for the simple fact that some people take photos of the published knives and pass them off as their own works.
They get paid and the knife will never arrive

Thanks

I did not realize this was an issue. Sad as it is to need this precaution, I can see there is no choice for you. Thank you for the clarification.

#4 (and a bonus lamb thanks to the extremely generous giveaway Rufus1949 Rufus1949 held in the Guardians thread a short while back) checking in here. Thanks again to @Jakeywax31 for leading the charge on this amazing knife and to Cosimo for the stunning work on all of them.

Well said Greg. 👍🏻

Love you too. Enjoy the weekend and holler at me.

Cosimo De Benedetto Cosimo De Benedetto - I love your work. I admire your initiative, skill and great progress as a knife maker. Congratulations on your recent award. This is just the beginning, I am sure. 👍

BUT if I may digress and make an observation - as I have written before, I think somewhere in this thread started by my friend Jean-Marc Âchillepattada Âchillepattada (I might be only one or 2 people on the planet who don’t use FB or IG - that’s on me and my own problem - nonetheless - I don’t understand why a Knife Maker looking to advertise and sell his/her product would have a Facebook and/or Instagram account which is PRIVATE - ONLY open to other FB or IG account holders. You don’t provide access to any contact information or viewing of your work with your private account status, for those of us who do not use FB or IG. :(

Maybe you have enough business and a backlog of orders anyway and your private FB and IG settings controls your market just perfectly for you. Of course, you are not the only maker set up this way - Gigi and Giuseppe and Davide Sechi too, among many others. No matter, I don’t get it. o_O For me and others this has been a great frustration (though maybe has saved me thousands of $$s over the years ;)). I could have long ago chased down your contact info from Jean-Marc or others but though I could see and “follow” your work in this thread, I still have had no option to look over your available offerings - or follow you work - other than here. Just saying.

I do love your beautiful knives and celebrate your success.
Hi RayseM, I made my Facebook and Instagram profiles public :D

Thank you 🙏

Exceptional artisan work, really re-created the look of late c19th knives (only without their age related disorders :D) and yet these speak superb user and not some museum artefact. Your work is justifiably getting recognition and a lot of regard here.

I would like to set up something with you but first I have to disentangle from a Custom order with another maker from whom I have not received any updates on for some months nor any communication. So I'm beginning to feel I should withdraw from that one.

Regards, Will

Hi Mr.Will,
Thank you so much for the compliments, they are always very welcome.

I'm very sorry that the other craftsman isn't giving you any news on the matter.

I will be very happy to discuss the making of a knife with you.

Take all the time you need

Greetings
Cosimo
