Cosmetic flaws on new small insingo!

You need to contact KSF instead of CRK IMO; Derrick is a great guy and he will make it right. Also, you should have taken pics and posted them so you would have a before and after comparison.
I know getting a brand new knife with marks on it is not fun, but why not just use it like it is intended and add your own character to it? It will not look new forever short of staying in its box!
I may be off base here...but it feels like you have a hidden agenda.
That last part was a douch bag low hitting comment. Show some respect drama queen!

I received a new Sebenza a couple of months ago. No sooner had I taken it out of the box, my dog farted. It hardly stunk at all whereas before it was quite noxious.
I can only attribute this change to the fact that a new CRK was in the immediate vicinity. Another  for CRK knives.
Your experience may vary but I doubt it.

Thomason:

Which exact CRK model was this? My dog's farts are pretty bad and I am hoping for similar results.

It sucks when we are disappointed, so I empathize with your frustration. The bead-blast finish is something that shows marks very easily (which many love and an equal number hate). There's a reasonable chance the knife was handled in the interim and somehow got some bright spots, or maybe the shipping to you was particularly harsh and the knife got vibrated and rubbed in the foam (assuming it's the new package style). Regardless, the good news is there are people at KSF and CRK that care regardless of the cause, so you will end up with a minty-fresh CRK to put your own snail-trails on. No problem there, just too bad about the hassle.

Yes sir boss. That was my mistake and it will never happen again. Please help me improve so that I may avoid future insubordination and show you the respect you so richly deserve.

Sucks when they come like that. I have never had one show up with an issue. At least not yet. I really do not believe that it's common.

I really hope things stay nice and tight at CRK with out the big guy in charge. These are such great knives.

They are meant to be used and used hard. However, I also like to be the one to break them in and lay the first set of beauty marks on the scales.

I think that sometimes there is a perception that there are more issues with a particular product than there really are because very few people post on Internet forums just to say they bought a new item and had no issues. However, anytime someone has an issue they are quick to post online to talk about it. So many encounters you will read about involve a defect or disappointment of some kind. In reality, I'm sure very few new knives go back to CRK as defective.

Quite agree.

Based on the 7 or 8 CRK's I've got, purchased new and used, ranging from a 1997 small Regular to a new 2016 small 21, I've never had any concerns or problems like I've seen mentioned here or in the past. If I did, I would contact CRK first and work with them.

I believe spending more money on anything doesn't guarantee perfection. Perhaps it might reduce the potential problems, but no guarantee.

Staysharp, I hope and trust CRK will resolve your situation.

I have always said that every scratch or scuff on your sebenza is an adventure you were on with your sebenza.

I always thought people were nuts when they said the sebenzas look good with scratches. I usually have my watches reconditioned every couple of months because the scratches on them drive me nuts. On knives, like my stainless dragonfly, it's the same problem. Scratches bother me and look terrible.

Having said that and made my confession as a functioning guy with OCD, I can say that the marks on the handles of my plain small sebenza do not have the same effect. This is not because I am so creative as others who can see a work of art in their knives' blemishes, but rather the finishing on plain sebenzas holds minor scratches a scuffs very well.

I really need a pic. for a proper comment, but I will just use my imagination....

If you look hard enough, nothing is perfect. (Definition required)

I am sure non of my 21's where ever "perfect" but I never really looked that hard, so I guess they've all been perfect?!
I think so....

Again, wish we had some pics...

Hello everyone,

I ordered a new sebenza small 21 insingo beginning of this week from knives ship free. I requested to have knife inspected before leaving. I received my knife today, everything is great except for 2 polished spots on each titanium handle slab at the tip of the handle when blade is closed facing downward. I called crk and they said it's covered under warranty and they will cover shipping cost both ways. That's all fine and dandy but what gives? Anyone have this issue before or one similar on a new knife? I already shipped it back today. They will have it by Tuesday. I am frustrated. What if it comes back worse than before? 😣

Sounds like it's not a problem to me. I put a wicked scratch on my new sebenza CG within an hour of owning it. The plastic buckle of the seat belt scratched it good. The finish of a Sebenza will not hold up to wear and it's not a flaw but a chosen design element. The finish is a conscious choice by CRK, so if you don't like it you should get a refund and buy a knife with a harder handle material, like G10, carbon fiber, etc.

Not sure why you would think it would come back "worse than before" unless it wasn't really bad in the first place.

I have money in hand, just need the odds.

Sounds like you have things taken care of. I am sorry it came with any blemish at all. When we inspect a knife, it is hard to anticipate everything. We look it over and we, obviously, missed that.

Chris Reeve Knives will take good care of you. Anne is very much in charge over there and she is an amazing lady with the same relentless commitment to detail they had before. I am absolutely convinced of the direction of the company.

Please, if there is anything I can do for you, please give us a call.

Nice of you to respond directly, Derrick. Well said!
