Cossatot River Trail, Arkansas...Pic Heavy!

I grew up in Sevier County, AR about 6 miles from the Cossatot. We called it the Possum Trot.

Beautiful area. The dry county is a deal breaker though. ;)

Stock up before you go. I will tell you something from experience...I have suckered many of my kin into going to the Buffalo River area for floating. Most of these are my old aging hippy Uncles (that are getting old along with this old man). They always run out and never listen. Never.

The basic mathematical formula I have told countless kin and others is this: bring whatever amount of good stuff you would normally bring and multiply it by 2 at the minimum. Maybe 3 for the hardcore! Better to wake up with a bad head at the campground than go driving drunk on a beer run which classifies you as stupid these days with the consequences. Let me assure you law enforcement look for this.

Let's see....DWI or I could buy hundreds of Becker Knives?

Arkansas is KILLER. I'm glad I'm nextdoor in Missouri. I have traveled everywhere and it's where I want to be fulltime someday.

My, my ain't that some kinda beautiful.......Wow........ Arkansas is one lovely state and you got to hike some of the nicest parts....... Lucky you !!!!!....... Thanks for the ride along and the pix...... I am jealous......

Ethan

I'm lucky. My state of Missouri has 8 border states:

Arkansas
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Nebraska
Oklahoma
Tennessee

If you can't find something to do in these states, well....

As a quiz, without doing an internet search try to find a state that has more border states!!

I've been to some of the greatest places in my lifetime including your great state of Tennessee which is beautiful beyond description. When it comes down to it though, the Ozarks are my home and always will be.

Through the trees you can see the pedestrian only bridge that crosses the river with the HWY 246 bridge right behind it at the North end...big big bridge!:

Some things make you want to stop and take a break and a picture while ramblin' from place to place and this certainly caught me eye while driving down the road...

A few years ago a disaster hit this area right down the road from the Cossatot Trail...you can research it further if you want but life is precious... Albert Pike Recreation Area the evening of June 10 and the early morning of June 11, 2010...20 people died...many were children.

Think about where you pitch that tent and make a nest for the night.
