Spent part of the day with BC Wrecking Crew locals JCA21 & Switchblade61. We met up at a local hiking area (BUNTZEN LAKE) and headed to the covered outdoor kitchen area to shoot the breeze and fondle knives. JCA21 sold me his new ESEE Junglas and a new Cold Steel Military R1 San Mai.

we headed up the trails, the torrential rain and endless mist our companion for the day. Up thru the trails, onto the BC Hydro service road and then up the secondary service road under the powerlines. Rain rain rain rain. Non stop rain.

held off on filling the canteen, knowing there was another 4000 streams in the area.

good thing i held off on slurping up that water..........mmmm deer goo leaching into the same stream a few hundred yards up. This is a relatively fresh cougar kill

yay for fatwood. damn dude, you really have a nose for finding the stuff.

too bad we didnt get a pic of that guy who was hiding in the bushes.

oh yea the dude in the bushes....man that was freaking funny.

So after finding the deer kill, and the cougar scat, and other signs of cougar in the area, I was walking ahead of the others when i suddenly saw movement low in the woods and behind shrubs. My first though was ITS THE COUGAR! so i grabbed the camera, dropped the pack, unsheathed the Junglas and crept swiftly up towards the embankment and into the woods. I was ready to A: take pictures of the cougar, B: break in my new Junglas combat machete in its body if it came at me.

well......

in a split second i realized that there was not a cougar watching us, but some dude in full camo clothes who had been taking a whiz up off the trail. He suddenly moved fast away from me, his face pure fricking white as I ran up the trail with my combat machete in my hand. I said OH CRAP! sorry man! and hightailed it back to the trail, apologizing on the way. Dude came down to the trail and seemed nervous. I tried to explain that i thought I had seen the cougar moving where he had been, and he replied, no man, that was me.

Lol

we told him about the deer kill and he went off to check it out. Came back as we were making lunch and said "man thats cool in person". and went on his way.

I was busting a gut about ten minutes later, realizing that dude must have freaked out good when he realized there was someone in army clothes and boots, with a massive combat machete coming up to him in the woods....... \\\

too funny

Awesome! I grew up in Belcarra an was part of the sasamat fire dept, we trained up in that area quite often. Live in coquitlam now so I don't get out there as much, great pics of a great area.

^ come on out and join us for a hike man! great to see more BC locals on BF!

you still firefight?

excellent pics, man! all that rain looks miserable...not sure which is worse to walk on, 2 ft snow here or all that soaking wet stuff...man, i'm almost starting to hate winter...almost.

Damn, sounds like I missed a good day, that cougar kill looks neat. I went to bed at like 730 after I got home from work, my alarm went off at 930 for the hike... There was no way I was getting outta bed, lol. Sweet pics

Anyone up for some weekday action? I might head out there and try and find that cougar kill, looks like it was off the academy trail? Weathers sposed to be nice for Tues-Thurs.

Damn it. I miss all the fun stuff

How was the patrol machete?

also, did switchblade finally join the club and get the pants?

Sweet pics and nice looking outing! That last of of the head with the Junglas is priceless. Nice looking low salal there too, that stuff can be brutal when its taller than you are!

That looks like a chupacabra mutilation. They are everywhere down here.

Thats great man, thanks for the invite. Unfortunately I had to leave the department when I moved out to Coquitlam a couple years ago, and have since fallen far out of shape lol.

wait.... wait.... You were really gonna confront a cougar with a Junglas?

So do your friends get tired of hearing that loud clanking sound when you walk from your giant steel testicles?
