Could anyone name this weapon?

After that I'll turn towards martian arts, that's what I ment (:

Martian arts? Is that something like seen in the movie John Carter???

I don't know much about Martian arts.

Since when did parkour/freerunning become a martial art???

I am going to bet that anyone that can run up to an alley way, lunge himself from left to right up adjacent walls , gaining 14 feet in the act, and then flip over backwards onto their feet, and run through the kitchen of the apartment they found, then heading down the staircase and back to the street again via flag pole from the second floor........

could pretty much kick your biody wherever they wanted, rip an ear off, and snap your leg, while never touching the ground.

There are numerous ways to be violent, art comes in a multitude of forms. It isn't too hard to figure how a parqour enthusiast could kick even a trained individuals ass outright. Many martial artists couldn't kick a regular thugs ass. Control over your own body, agility, and fitness, will go much farther than a desk job and 25 years at shotokan Karate or anything else.

I'll be completely honest with you, I don't know much about where my road will lead me, but one thing I do know:
I want to be as agile as I can get, be as swift in fighting, both armed and unarmed, and I want to learn whatever I can.
As it comes to the weapon I'd like to specialize in, this is it. This pair of swords has intrigued me since I were a teenager, and it still does. (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-c9hZu2KPk4w/T_aT4JKwExI/AAAAAAAAAIA/tTbEfAvfvsc/s1600/109.jpg)
It can't be that there's not one place in the world where you can be taught to handle traditional swords, and if I have to move to some place in Tibet for it, I will.
I hope you kind of understand the point I'm trying to make.

Last time i checked there isn't any martial art that teaches how to use made up fantasy swords

It's a girl. they have destroyed many men.

FTW !

DC...:D

Can either of you name a better way to get destroyed?

I think they call that biological "Yellow Fever". Watch out, its a really hard bug to kick, you might have it forever and just have to learn to live with it, like malaria!.

I think I had a form of that years ago when I married a Salvadoran woman.

What is this "Yellow Fever" thou dost speak of?? Then as an Asian man who's dated asian women, im probably immune to it. Now in my thirties when concerning women i live by the line from blazing saddles..."Where da white women at?"..

Now as far as those swords go while i am no sword or knife expert, how truly useful is a sword in our modern world? Especially for defense? While also a practitioner of martial arts(Pradal Serray, Tae Kwon Do) and a current firearms instructor, I would really have to suggest probably dropping the money on a glock or m&p and learning the american martial art of Gun-Fu.

Failing that how bout some Ang Khola's from Himalayn imports instead of the wall art swords those seem to be?

You guys have no idea how expensive the upkeep on those kind of women is!

Which is it? Actual training use or just collection? With respect, you're not making any sense
You also haven't answered the question, what martial art will you be training? Going at a straw dummy doesn't count as one

Not sure yet, but Krabi-Krabong has popped into my mind a few times already. Does that answer please you, friend?

Get two of the XL Voyager Vaquero models and you will have pocket versions. Won't have to wait for the zombie apocolypse to be able to carry them around and still seem normal.

No arguing from me on any point there. Let me self-correct:

When did parkour/freerunning become a recognized martial art??? ;)

Gun or not, I wouldn't mess with a dude walking down the street with a sword on his hip. Also, in most places, you can freely carry a sword but a gun is a bit different.

You'll also find that there are very VERY few truly martial arts (as in still geared towards realistically doing physical harm to a real-world assailant rather than demonstrating forms on a competition floor) that make use of simultaneously wielding two weapons of full sword length. Historically it is most typical, when two weapons are employed, for one to be long and one short, or both of them to be short. There's a good reason for this--two long weapons tend to get in each other's way.

This ^

Then again, I'm kinda digging the whole blonde/Asian thing, so the OP may be on to something here... ;)

You are right in that, as I already found the fighting in that scene quite sloppy, almost as if the weapons were near impossible to combine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1BgX-kDbTc).
However, I've seen some nice going with double-swords already, and if you treat them as 1, being you work mostly symmetrical, it's all about finding the balance and coordinating the two at the exact speed, to stay balanced.
Also, wielding one as a sword and the other one as dagger solves the "being in eachothers way" quite well, I assume. I'm not sure about that though.

Most of the time someone whips out a couple of swords like that, they get shot. Typically by the police, since it's usually people who are unbalanced who seek out combat armed with fantasy swords. I mean really, no one is walking around with swords. It's not like that's EDC anywhere on the planet. Machete or some variation, that happens. Fantasy sword? Never.

Still, if one had money to burn and wanted something for some LARPing action, I'd post an image in the custom builders' section and see who could hook you up.
