Hi guys

Hoping for some advice on an issue I'm having.

I just bought a winkler sd2. On the website it was pictured and listed as tapered tang

knowing winkler has recently changed these to non-tapered i also sent this message to the seller

"Hi mate
Not sure if a note came through with my initial order due to all the bank issues. Could you please double check the tang on this one is tapered before sending it out? The pic on your site shows a tapered tang but mr winkler has recently stopped tapering them and it sucks! Want to get the tapered ones while i still can

Thanks very much!
Tom"

woke up this morning to a shipping notification as well as this

"Hello Tom,

We checked this knife for you, and it is not a tapered handle tang. It is the new design.

Best Regards,"

was i clear in my initial message that i only wanted the tapered tang one?

If i was in the states i would simply return it but I'm in Australia so return post will cost me at least $75-100USD plus then the 60$USD to get the tapered version they have sent out

I'm pretty upset about this
What would you recommended i do?

I suck at dealing with customer service issues and this company have generally been pretty cool but i feel like I've just been charged 300 for a knife i was pretty clear about not being what i wanted and it's gonna now cost me half that again and six weeks of post time to sort it out...

Thanks!
Tom

Also
I have an untapered and a tapered sd1 - the untapered is a completely different feeling knife- it sucks - so i think it's a surprisingly big change

Seemed pretty clear to me that you only wanted the papered version….

Think I would be justified asking them to cover the return postage?

Getting this one back to them and the tapered one posted to me will be about 50% the cost of this knife and i feel like this is their problem they've sent me the wrong knife.

You can certainly tell them that you were intent on buying the tapered tang knife in the photo. By them not updating the photo, you got the wrong configuration. All you can do is try, and perhaps they will offer a solution.

According to the FTC: “By law, companies can't send unordered merchandise to you, then demand payment. That means you never have to pay for things you get but didn't order. You also don't need to return unordered merchandise. You're legally entitled to keep it as a free gift.”

I wonder how this would apply. Perhaps they have to take it back and/or you can get your money back?

So noW it just looks like I'm getting 2 knives can't really afford it but that's the price of addiction
