I just got my ASH-1 in today, no pics yet :p The knife I want the most is an SFNO and has been since I was introduced to Busse. I have to wonder though, after receiving my ASH-1 today, could this bad boy be the next SFNO? This is definately destined to be a classic design. This knife is sick!! It may have just replaced my HH as my favorite .

The question is,..............

Are you gonna use it!? :D

I don't know how many SFNOs were ordered in the original offering, but I think it became popular after it had been taken down, so not too many were made. I think there will be many more of he ASH-1s ordered and sold.

Judging from some of the prices I have seen, you could probably trade an ASH-1 SE for an SFNO. That's pretty remarkable, but I'll wait to see what happens after the CG's hit the market.

Man I hear what you are saying....and I am aching for the bad boy to go up on the main home site! All these FAT G-10 slabs have brought this knife to life for me. I was really having my doubts seeing it with those thin no shape SE slabs! It still felt good and had some potential but seeing it with the tan/blk, blk/tan, and org/blk....man that bad boy is SCREAMIN!!!!

Come on Jerry....let's see what it looks like with some:
FREAKING FAT ASS MICARTA MAGS!!!!

Yep, I'll be buying a few CG ones and adding my own black linen Micarta mag handles for a user!

I may hold off on using this baby for a little while, other than shaving arm hair of course. It's scary sharp right out the tactical cardboard sheath! I'll definately be grabbing a CG when they come up, that'll definately be a user!

The first time I saw the SFNO on the Anatomy of a Busse page I was in love ... funny thing is, I like the ASH1 design even more!!

I'll be buying enough of them that I'll definitely have a user !! :D

The ASH1 is already a classic because it is a ........well SH1 which is a classic design.

The SH1 and SFNO are probably very close and may fill the same niche. However, the SFNO is slightly longer and more blade heavy. So most likely the SFNO will be a slightly better chopper.

I really like the SH1 design myself and will definately be getting more. Standard slabs are fine for me.

You guys are a real pain the rear to understand, I mean i'm sitting here with bussecolector site open in a different window trying to figure out what you are saying and i'm still having a hard time.

I've got both and the ASH-1 seems like it lends itself more towards a utility/large bush knife kinda like the BATAC....it can chop, but it's pretty limited as it's more neutrally balanced....the SFNO packs a lot of chopping horsepower in a small package...it's blade heavy and because of the swell of the mag handles you can choke back on it to add some power when needed. It's more of a chopper that can be used as utility...the other way around.

Just my .02 though

Hey Volk, at certain intervals, Busse issues an "Anniversary" blade.

This year, it is going to be a "remake" of one of Busse's earliest knives, the Steel Heart 1 (which came in ATS-34 steel).

The discussion here is about two blades, the SFNO and the ASH1.

SFNO = Special Forces Natural Outlaw with 7" blade

ASH1 = Anniversary Steel Heart 1 with ~6.5" blade

The ASH1 is next in the lineup of offerings directly from Busse Combat.

Do you know about Bad Mojo? There's good info at that site too: http://homepage.mac.com/zombiekiller/badmojo/infi.html

Hi Volk, understand your confusion.. when I first came here too, all the bloody acronymns were killing me, but after a while, they begin to make sense..

the rarer ones still get to me sometimes..:)

Well I havent held one or seen one in person yet, but I know the ASH will be hot. The specs, the size its blade with to length ratio. And the recurve variant:eek:. If I have my way I will get to order three at least. Because I have a feeling this thing is gonna be super sweet.

Does anyone have an idea of the price range of the ASH1? Are these going to be in the same range as the FBM, or will they be more?

Are we talking $400 for the CG and $500 for the LE, or is that wishful thinking? Oh- and SATIN should be finish option for the CG.

I'm a misfit. I really don't care for the looks of the ASH-1, but once I held the Pumpkin ASH, I was sold. With those fatty mag slabs and satin finish, it is all that and a bag of chips. There are only a couple things that feel better in the hands, one takes a target out @ over a mile away and the other one, well, she's in the shower right now.

I'm curious about how they will be priced as well.
I think it's interesting to note that the SEs went for $367 at Bloodbath.
Not sure what that says, if anything, about the upcoming prices...but I'm hopeful they will be right around there.

I hope they are right around there as I want to be able to afford more than just one or two. In the 3 range would sound good to me well at least for the standard models.
