Could this be Wrought iron?

I have no experience with wrought iron, and the only knife I've even seen it on went back to the maker for what turned out to be a refund, but was wondering if this could be.

It 20 links of nautical chain, and from what I remember that can be a source. Obviously I can't cut it and break off a piece, but is there any conclusive way to tell? If it's real I would hate to see it sitting on the wall when it could be repurposed, but wasn't brave enough to buy it without checking into it here first! The mottled rust pits made me think perhaps it is?

More experienced people, what do you think?

Tough to say. I am not seeing any stranding typical on the surface. If it is wrought it is very refined with little or no patterning. Only way to really tell is cut partially through and bend it.

If you want wrought iron nautical chain call Aldo. I think he can give you a better price than that.

I have clean wrought chain available too. Have about 500 lbs of the stuff. And can get more if needed. It is verified to be wrought iron but triple puddle material. So there are very few silica inclusions. Makes for a very nice consistent guard material. I use it for my blackened guards.

This is a good example of anchor chain that's wrought iron. Found this at our local beach. Trying to figure out how to acquire it. It's like 10-20 feet long.
