Could This Possibly Be My Favorite Sebenza?

CRK Brothers and Sisters,

I recently picked up this Sebenza from an excellent fellow forum friend, Howard. He is an excellent man to deal with!

This could possibly be my favorite Sebenza. I haven't fully committed to designating it as such as that is a heavy decision to make. I have owned dozens of these darn Sebenzas and I just can't get over how much I love the SMALL versions. I have tried 21's, Classics, Regs, "P" Seb, inlays, leather inlays, wood inlays, micarta inlays, unique graphics, Large Regs, carbon fiber inlays, carbon fiber scale, etc, etc, etc. I have come to the conclusion that I am fully in love and have a vested interest in the SMALL PLAIN JANE SEBENZA flavor. Now, which one of the small Plain Jane's is my favorite? That remains to be seen, but this one is a top contender. Here are a few reasons why:

  • Small Size
  • S30V--I love this steel
  • Reg profile--love the blade shape and handle style
  • PLAIN JANE
  • Check out the WIDE JIMPING--so delicious!
  • Spine Ribs--just looks plain COOL.
  • All original hardware
  • Near Mint condition (not for long)

Pics to enjoy:

Good stuff, MMAR. Especially given your history with CRK. You make a compelling argument in favor of the Small Sebenza. A couple of years ago, I noted how its blade is about the same size as that of a Paramilitary 2, though I would not have thunk it. Link.

Thank you Mr. Noodle. Yes, the blade length to handle length ratio is quite impressive--yet another compelling reason to love the small Sebenza!

That fine knife would also be near the top of my list as well. Congrats on that rare beauty, I love the ones that had that limited jimping.

Thanks brother.

My only gripe is that the original box and papers were not available with this one! Such a shame for them to get tossed or lost at some point. These small Reg's are getting harder to come by and the fact that these "wide jimping" models were only made for 1 quarter it makes them almost an impossible find.

Great small regular. I prefer the large regular sebenza over them all, but the small regular has it's place and I have a couple small regulars that I would have a hard time letting go of....!!! Congrats on a great score.

Thanks brother. I have tried many a large, including the beloved Large Reg and I feel the same as you, only vice versa!

Hard to find indeed. I fortunately had a chance at one identical to yours a few months back but didn't have the funds available :(
I'll be kicking myself over that one for a long time.
The box and papers would be very nice to have but I'm sure that you'll love it just the same ;D

Enjoy that beauty and show pics for the rest of us every now and then.

She's GORGEOUS my good sir!!! Also, she gives off a very "minty" fresh appearance. I purchased a Small Regular about a month ago and too my surprise she arrived with the "wide" jimping just as yours showcases. It was quite a treat indeed, especially since it was not stated in the listing. The jimping really does give it a different type of feel as well as appearance with it's rarity.

I would love to see others with the configuration and since I'm here go ahead and include my humble offering..........

(P.S.) She's was listed as a user when I bought her and that she was.......... with the beauty marks to prove it. Even though I did jazzed her up a little bit with a Custom Barry H. Scale (purchased separately).

@1Abominable1--I feel your pain. I sold one awhile back with the wide jimping and have always regretted it! You are right about the box/papers--I will enjoy this one despite not having it!

@GuestWho101--thanks for kind remarks. That sure is a beauty my friend. Did it come with the original scale as well?

@ALL--please feel free to post your "wide jimping" beauties here as well! I know there are many more out there! Maybe even a few Large Regs with it!

Here is contender # 2 for my favorite Sebenza. It has all the same reasoning as number one contender, but this one has silver hardware! I am not convinced the silver lug is original, but it is "period correct" with the flat back. This one did come with box/paperwork, but I am not sure it is original as the date is off on the birthcard and the box/birthcard do not mention the silver hardware. Nonetheless, the knife is a juicily tasty example of some of CRK's finest work.

MMAR, one day you may own all of the wide jimping small regs. Including this one that got away.

Man that it is a beauty.

Mr. Wire--there are only two options in this world for that knife:

Option A: in YOUR possession.
Option 2: in MY possession.

Or ELSE.... Capiche? :p

I think the wide jimping looks awesome with the scallops on the regulars.
Anyone know about how long they used it?
