Could we make a "best knife bargains" thread?

I'll add a couple as well:

Byrd Series distributed by Spyderco
Timberline Envoy is a sleeper - got mine (AUS8a) for $30.00 CDN

With CRKT's, there just might be some real bargains hiding out there on the older ones on clearouts, if you are a CRKT fan....:)

Benchmade mini skirmish and skirmish... easily worth twice the $120.00 - $160.00 that they sell for...:)

Al Mar SERE 2000.....

Can still be found new for under $125 and one of the best bargains around IMHO!

Columbia River Knife & Tool Rollock 1 in blue, smooth edge, for $16 + shipping from Grand Prairie.

More fun than you deserve one-hand opening and closing. Don't show one to a mechanical engineer, 2 in the family, or it will become a must have.

Bless you Blackie Collins. You are a true genius. May you live for a thousand years.

Is it a knife, jewel, bling or money clip? Blazing sharp, pointy, lanyard holes and very well polished.

A couple that haven't been mentioned:

Old Hickory kitchen knives. $5 - $15
USA-made Schrade Old Timers, if you can find them on closeout. <$30
AG Russell Hunters Scalpel $20
vintage Bruckmann knives, common on eBay in mint condition for $20-$40

Chris Reeve Sebenza. A very solid value at $340. I find very few customs at any price that are as well made overall as the Sebenza, so, since to my eyes, at $340, it has better overall F&F than many customs costing $1,000 and up, I see it as, a relative of course, bargain.

Sorry, but someone had to say it. :D

2 other productions that offer custom quality are the Kershaw Bump at about $160 if you get lucky, and the Benchmade/Blackwood 630 at even less if you're still lucky, both are excellent, near custom-quality framelocks for a very fair price.

How about some of these:

Buck/Strider 880SP - Can be found for <$100 here.

Buck/Strider 882SBTG Tarani Police Knife - Can also be found here a wee bit over $100.

Buck Taclite Linerlock w/ Wood Laminate Handles - Here for $20.

Spyderco Manix or Mini-Manix - Two great knives made of excellent materials. Can be found around $100 here and here.

Spyderco Military and Para-Military - Also two great knives. Can be found around $100 here and here.

Spyderco Native S30V sold at Wal-Mart - I know it's been mentioned but this is a great deal. Premium blade steel with Spyderco quality for under $40!

CRKT Ryan Plan B - Available here for $12.

CRKT M16s and M21s - Aluminum versions of the M16 are available around $40 with AUS8 blade steel. They are a great deal. The titanium M16s are slightly more expensive but they're made of titanium!!! They still can be found for around $70. The M21s can be found in aluminum with AUS8 blade steel and awesome blade ergos for $40.

Victorinox SAKs - I've found many of these on sale at Lowe's but I've heard they're discontinuing much of their knife selection. I've bought several clampacks that contained a Rally and Climber for $5 ea. I've also seen SAKs packaged with mini Maglites as well as others anywhere from $5 to $10. I don't guess you could say these are good deals since they happen sporadically but I thought they were still worth mentioning.

Wow, thanks guys. This has turned into quite a list.

Even if no one else benefits from this, I have saved the list on my computer and will be using it very much to help with my coming purchases. So thank you all for helping me make some good buys.

My next knife purchase includes a CRKT Rollock (and some other knives I already had picked out), and after that I might get an Opinel and a Mora.

Just a quick note or two on the price category selections above.

- most Opinel knives are priced in the $5 - $10 range, although a few models sell higher. The smaller models and the paring knife are under $5. The best Opinel bargain is the gift set of 10 knives for $60.

- Most Old Hickory knives are $5 - $10, although you could spend $15 on a cleaver or their largest butcher knives. For $22 you can buy a five-piece set.

My next knife purchase includes a CRKT Rollock...
At SMKW some of the Rollock models are $15 and some are $25. If bargain shopping, get one of the $15 choices; the only difference appears to be the handle colors.

Best Wishes,
Bob

Polkowski/Kasper Companion by CRKT around 30 bones, super sd design with entirely adequate materials.
Don't forget that the scallion is in the same price range as the leek if not a bit cheaper. Cold Steel large and very large voyageres, 50-70 for big sharp folders. Also are the carbon v twistmasters still available from CS, they were a great cutter at a low price.

Since kitchen knives were mentioned, the Forschner line from Victorinox is an amazing buy. Good knives and not expensive.

Phil

Bob- Thanks for the CRKT suggestion. I'll make the price-class fixes later.

Edge, phatch- Good suggestions. I'll add them later.

I'm not going to do anything right now because I've been up all night and work at 5pm. Need some sleep.

Ultra bargain basement:

-airport donated SAK, from Central Valley Wholesale, bot two lots of 15 (30 units total) Victorinox classics, with shipping, $1.04 each, some never used, most hardly used, all with tools, cleaned and oiled they are beautiful and useful EDC pocket tools.

Best,

oregon

I'll second the Central Valley Wholesale notion for SAKs. I've bought several used and all had snappy action and came oiled. Recently they sent me the wrong knife off Ebay, I informed them of the mishap, they told me to keep the wrong knife and they sent the correct one out. Talk about great customer service. :D

Great thread for a newb like me.

Mora military model at Sportsman's Guide for about $10

I just found out I grossly overpaid for a Ryan Plan B
