A Hoback A15 would be right up your alley if you can wait - Jake has about a year wait now.
hoback has his books closed atm and Im almost 100% sure once he clears them he will be going through dealers instead of taking orders again I just talked to him at blade on friday but I still wouldnt quote me on that
As for your choices around 500$ Ive asked myself this a lot and know several good options
As mentioned hoback is 1 of my dream folders I got to handle his first a15 he made with his bearing system at blade and it is an absolute beast if you can get 1 do it
also mentioned shirogorov go check out tuff thumbz on youtube yesterday he posted up shirogorovs 2013 booth and they are nothing short of perfection
yuna is another grail type knife that if you do a cheap config on you can get for around 500$ I think. I currently have 1 I'm waiting on for like a yr so his wait list is super long
scot matsuoka features ikbs so the flipper is super smooth also saw him at blade and his knives sold fast very unique style
brian tighe I believe he has his own thrust bearings now not sure but Im a big fan of his flippers and youll only hear good things about them the fluting he does on his handles is just awesome also their button locks
Pohan Leu I have a bluephin from him now and Its a pretty large flipper features ikbs and a very wicked grind Im very happy with mine
Jens anso I dont know a lot about his knives so youll just have to go look for yourself but theyre amazing
Mikkel willumsen met him at blade also Ive wanted a flipper from him for quite awhile Id go with cwc or tuco, perocks were sold out when I got to his booth even with early bird so Idk bout them
Obviously a ray laconico if you can get 1 like mentioned
