Could you please reinstate the Rep Point system

I agree with something you posted in the past, though not in the same context:

It is my opinion that if a user comes here to report a problem, the moderators should look to assist him if possible and restrict these challenged individuals to a more appropriate section of the forums if they don't have any constructive comments.

In other words, that was a stunning psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud but do you have anything useful to say about the rep system?

I've written plenty on this topic, very carefully illustrating why this system was flawed and challenging anybody to identify its usefulness to the forums.

The chiclet whores started to screech like a stuck pig making it painfully obvious that although there was no solid rational for maintaining this very screwed up rating system there certainly was an emotional dependence upon it for a select few.

Let it go my friends - stop trying to be a member of a club that doesn't even exist anymore. I'm confident you can find other ways to enhance your sense of self worth. But this, is pathetic.

I think in fact many detractors of the system take it far too seriously.

I am not sure why people claim that it doesn't count at all or it's just a popularity contest but seem to become extremely upset when they received a red. Or they have to post threads with lots of profanities about it, or become extremely upset with the fact that it simply exists. You know what I mean?


It is, of course, a set of green or red blocks next to one's name. Towards the end it was quite easy to simply disable it if you didn't want to participate. This seems to nullify many of the objections I've seen.

I wouldn't mind seeing the system come back with just a number in the profile, FuseTalk style. Or no number or blocks at all, just as a quick comment system to let someone know you liked/disliked their post.


BTW, you've still added no significant contributions to this thread, just insults towards a perceived segment of the forum.

Not everyone has one or both. The PM system is also rather limited.

A quick check of the FAQ tells me that private messaging is reserved for paying members, so true some people would not be able to participate. It would require a basic membership at least. Another good incentive to put up the $10/year to help support the place I think. And used to send a quick "good job" post to someone, any limitations it may have seem inconsequential. It's certainly more robust than the old rep point comment line.

I think the few abusers of that system took it far more seriously, as evidenced here by the pathetic hanging on of phony green rep points in their sig lines etc. How sad!

And ganging up on people, like I mentioned before(gang mentality). Not a good thing! Tsk, tsk. Looks like you're all at it again.

Who wouldn't be upset to have people hit them in a negative way, anonymously?

Until the very last few days, people couldn't shut it off, and many(most) of the negative hits were anonymous, and not even used in the way they were intended for.
And don't point the whiner finger, I've seen your multi page threads upstairs whining about getting negative rep points, and trying to figure out who did it so you could get them.
Don't say everybody but you few were whining.

When that system was finally disabled, you few had a whine fest that's lasted right up to the present. Get over it already!

As far as him adding insults, you few shouldn't be casting stones here.

And what contributions have you added except to keep on about a long gone system that was broken from the start, and to add to the pile on of a couple of people that "dare" speak out against the "popular kids".:barf:

Don't feel too bad, you can still keep adding to the phony rep point count in your sig lines, it gives the rest of us something to be thankful for, and that is, grateful we're not like that.:barf:
