Here's my version of a 7" fixed blade field knife.

440C treated to C58-59 and cryo processed
TiAlN coated
G10 scales
18-8 CRES hardware

Nice! Did you do the coating yourself or have it done?

Had it done outside. I've heard of folks doing chemfilm, anodize and the like in-house but i've never heard of anyone being able to do a vapor deposited coating in-house.

thats what i thought. i only ask because i want the same thing done to some of my knives. where did you have it done at?

It definitely looks good to me, but then I like to make folding tacticals. However, it is certainly not a hunting knife as I see them and have used them. A fighter? Sure. Frank

Wow, excellent job! I see that you're a machinist, which explains a lot. Did you CNC the bevels also?

My only criticism would be to either lose the top guard or the choil. I don't see how choking up on the blade to make the choil useful would work comfortably. It could just be me though as I never found choils useful anyway. Great job nonetheless.

I did! can you imagine how long it took to machine those bevels out using a round ball endmill, lol. But it allowed me to design the knife with varying bevel angles along the entire length so the angle is more obtuse at the point for more strength and more acute at the back for better cutting.

Well-done! It's not my "cup of tea", but it shows a lot of skill and forethought. Keeping the grind-line/compound bevel that smooth along a recurved profile is no joke, no matter how you go about it.
