Lookin' good, Feng. Can't wait to see some more.

What do you think of the handle?

I have smallish hands. I find the handle very comfortable. I'll have to do some work with it, but as a first impression, it feels like I could cut all day and not raise a blister.

If I were fussy that way, it might be a bit handle heavy. But I have good control of the blade and it makes me no nevermind.

I put it in the category of "almost too thick". But it fits in the hand well, and so far, LadyMoose hasn't gotten blisters from her kraton MKI, and she's put some time a whittlin' in with it.

Hnnnnggggg so much jealousy. I went down to one of my favorite knife-pickup-spots to see if they'd gotten in a shipment of Kabars like they said they would... Turns out they won't do one until February! :grumpy: Only place I've seen these here is at the local NEX and they're the Kraton/combo-edge version which I'm not interested in.

Enjoy 'em, Knarfeng! You been waiting long enough! :D

Hola Bro. My son lives in HI. Having broken his neck, he still surfs. As he would say, "Live Large!".

I have to say, there is nothing like sharpening a knife under the influence of single malt. I like a 20° edge. KaBar apparently likes a 25°. We shall see about THAT! Good thing about reprofiling an edge. It forms a bond between you and the steel. This knife is now MINE!

Once I set the edge, we shall see about some serious use.

Well...

Been waitin' for this knife for a while.

My only gripe was the slick resin coating on the leather handle...

So...

1. Sanded it /w some emery-cloth that I use to prep copper pipe/fitting for solderin' (~200 grit) until the leather started to show thru.

2. Scoured it w/ a fine bristle stainless-steel wire brush, one way, in the direction of the washers, until the resin b/t the washers was cut thru.

3. Scoured it w/ a course bristle stainless-steel wire brush, one way, in the direction of the washers, until the groves b/t the washers started to "pop" and the resin was mostly gone from the surface... leaving a "brain-coral" finish.

4. Treated w/ hot "Sno-Seal" to protect and seal the leather.

The Sheath was also treated w/ Sno-Seal...
