Counterfeit, anyone?

Is the Cold Steel Store on Amazon generally good to go? I see they are having a few good deals with pricing being close to other dealers but Amazon has the magical 2 day shipping! I can't imaging GSM would allow fakers to use their logo and images on an entire Amazon store page!
If you stick with just Amazon .com and not some of their other merchants on the site , should be fine .

I believe with prime orders , you always have easy returns also .

Indeed...I checked and double checked! The listing I ordered from is Amazon.com and leads to the Cold Steel Store.

AMAZON BEWARE I order from there quite often and have had ups and downs. Yesterday I got a new AD-10/ This was from AMAZON NOT a third party dealer. I double checked and then again after getting it. NOT a third party seller. If you google Cold Steel AD-10 counterfeit, in images the first photo shows the difference in the stamp. When I opened the box the handle felt WAY different like it wasn't finished properly. The blade did not meet the handle right and indeed it had the stamp of the counterfeit. I am returning to Amazon today. I left a review. In my experience when you leave a negative review many times they refuse to post it. I shall see. Buying directly from Amazon is NOT safe. IN MY OPINION Amazon did not buy ONE of these counterfeits. IN MY OPINION there are probably a LOT more being shipped out. Side note when I order from the online auction site, I ALWAYS make a note the item is genuine as photos shows. Good luck

Unfortunate. Most likely someone swapped out a counterfeit and returned the counterfeit, which they shipped to you.

Your experience really sucks , but I've bought a ton of knives and other stuff from Amazon .com on Prime .

Never had a problem with fake merchandise .

Amazon deals in vast quantities with small profit margins . Very successfully .

Why would they risk their reputation selling knife fakes ?

If it happened , I can't believe it was purposeful or according to policy .

If you buy from the Cold Steel store on Amazon you will get the real thing. There are some counterfeits out there. But not like the out-there folks would have you believe.

Any information is very much appreciated. The huge auction site has numerous sellers selling Cold Steel Master Hunters in 3V for around the $50 range. I was HIGHLY suspicious. In checking most the sellers are resellers and most sell counterfeit knives, Cold Steel, Kershaw, Spyderco, Buck, ETC> After internet searches I could not find any help. I checked aliexpress the well known seller in counterfeit items. I could not find a Master Hunter for sale. What was shocking is they are selling counterfeit, AD-10, kobuns, Recon 1, Luzon, Rajah, Recon Tanto, SR-1, 4 Max Scout, ( these look really bad) , Espada, GI Tanto., SRK, Spartan, . I was shocked to see all these counterfeits and countless other models of other manufacturers. Has anyone bought or has information on these Master Hunters, I would appreciate it. Thank you and beware what you buy. Side note: contacting the auction site on counterfeits is useless. I have been on over 20 years and reported a lot of them NEVER has a listing been removed. Good luck

Aliexpress does have counterfeit Master Hunters. If you do a Google search for "Cold Steel Master Hunter Aliexpress" you will see the listing.

DHGate also used to have them, but it appears they no longer do. A Google search for "Cold Steel Master Hunter DHGate" shows their old listing.

So yeah, there are counterfeit Master Hunters out there.

THANK YOU I did a lot more internet searching. The aliexpress listing does not show but one side of the blade and not the side with the type of steel. I could not find in images or anywhere an image of both side of the blade. I did however go back to the auction site and sellers are using the same photos and description from the aliexpress add. AND no photos of that side of the blade. I also saw in the aliexpress ad their description "Cold Steel Master Hunter fixed 4.5CPM3V stone wash blade, KrayEx handle, k sheath". Again thank you. From now on I will stick with buying from the WWII battle internet site as I know for sure what I am getting. I trusted my gut and again THANK YOU

Check out jux t jux t 's post #395. He includes bogus features and a photo to help.

Unfortunately you can add the Espada to the long list of fakes on the bay. Pictures show XHP steel, as well as on the box (title of listing does not have XHP). Item Specifics list the knife as "Blade material AUS-10A". Located in: "Philippines, Philippines". Zero feedback. Also, selling around 15 other fakes, based on the designs and names - kershaw, maybe spyderco, civivi (but I'm not that familiar with those brands) and other Cold Steel like the Lynn Thompson Spartan, both plain edge (Cold Steel never made to my knowledge) and serrated versions.

All for a to good to be true price.

EDIT: Now there is a red handled version to add to the green handled and the black handled.

Thought I'd add another picture of the two counterfeit Thompson Spartans, which are now offered from Chinese sellers for ridiculously low prices.

Note the counterfeit box. It's virtually identical to the real one (though, presumably, lacking the serial number sticker and Lynn's autograph).

Sadly, the highly desired Medium Espada is now being counterfeited, too. Three of the original G-10 models are mimicked.

As with the Thompson Spartan and so many other newer counterfeits, the boxes are practically indistinguishable from the real thing.

This one surprised me, since genuine models have been out of production for many years. I wonder if the counterfeiters review this subforum to gauge demand!

likely they look at social media and ebay and decide on what sells quick and/or sells for high dollars.......

The fakes just get more and more difficult to sort out from the real thing !

My best hope , these days , is to only buy from a trusted source .

Some resellers may not even be aware that they are selling fakes . I have experienced this sad circumstance several times . :(

So ..."buyer beware " !

Is the Large and XL Espada being counterfeited as well?

Post #396 above describes some of the large espada counterfeits. Post edited to clarify the knives mentioned in that post are the Large Espada. I'm not sure about the extra large version, but I assume they are also being counterfeited. As always on ebay, only purchase from a long time seller with great feedback.

Just bought a Rajah 3 directly through Amazon, not a third party seller, and nothing had me believe it was fake until the box said Ventura, CA on it. The blade is the type that isn't sharpened all the way to the sharpening coil, and in the box that had circular stickers on both ends to seal it was a second clip in a little sealed plastic package and the knife was in bubble wrap sleeve, no paperwork. Did I happened to get a new old stock knife before they were sold to GSM who is located in Texas? I was hoping to get a newer one that would have the blade with more cutting edge but maybe a pre GSM knife is superior in quality?

I’m not an expert with the Rajah series, but I’ve never seen a CS fake that had that weird unsharpened portion of the blade that some genuine Cold Steel folding models have.

What steel is it labeled as? Does it have the new Cold Steel logo? The new CS folders I’ve bought came with the left clip sealed in plastic just as yours, and (for now) have the new logo.

To address your last sentence, the quality and heat treat should be the same as pre GSM.
