What can one do if they bought a knife on ebay and after receiving it
suspects that it may be a counterfeit? Is there any recourse?
Thanks.

If you purchase something off E-Bay that is not as described it is fraud. Contact E-Bay and explain to them. If you paid with PayPal or a Credit Card then you will most likely get your money back.

If you paid with cash, check or Money Order then you paid for what you earned: A shitty knock-off and a hard lesson.

Thank you very much. Fortunately I paid with paypal.
I would not have realized I had bought a counterfeit if a friend hadn't come by
with his EXACT SAME MODEL and we noticed some odd differences.

The first thing is to contact the seller through ebay. This will alert ebay that something is wrong. See if the item had a buyer protection plan with ebay. If it cannot be worked out, then you can file a dispute through ebay.

Thank you. I have done just that sending a mail through the ebay system to the seller requesting
a refund on the grounds that the knife is a counterfeit. Ebay gives the seller 5/6 days to respond
to this request after which they step in.

If it is a common knife, first as here or the manufacturer if it is correct, sometimes there can be minor variances between production years, etc...., Next if it proves to be a fake, contact the seller and see if he'll take it back, lastly if that fails, just file a "item not as described" with Ebay or Paypal. They'll refund you and at most ask you to just ship it back.

Thanks everyone. Problem resolved no need to go through ebay process.
Seems many sellers simply are not aware of what they are selling and are
upright people. Which is an entirely different situation from
the Guangzhou Province sellers that I avoid.

Or they knowingly sell fraudulent items and willingly give refunds to the few who notice and ask. You were just lucky that a friend had the same item.
