Counterfeit spydercos all over ebay

I stopped using Ebay because I was having problems at a much higher rate than reputable online dealers, and I hate Paypal. After awhile, the hassle and Paypal fees aren't worth the modest amount of money that you save. Now that the fakes are getting more difficult to distinguish; I am definately done. There were 3 trustworty American knife sellers that I used exclusively. I've always avoided dealers from Asia. That's a no-brainer. I have reported hundreds of fakes. Mostly Cold Steel.

So punish the good folks on ebay trying to make a living in a crap economy at the same time? :thumbdn:

Correct. That place is full of crooks and cons. Sure there are legitimate sellers trying to make a living there but they won't get my business because of the company they keep. Those vendors can find a less dubious place to market their wares if they want my money. You can "thumbs down" it all you want but that's how a free market works and maintains its integrity. If you lie down with dogs, you will rise up with fleas.

Sounds like you have it all figured out. Shame on those good business for obviously choosing that lousy company they keep on Ebay. They should make better choices as you suggest. Maybe you can give them some pointers on how the free market works. I am learning a lot from this post. ;)

Lol, you learned I won't be doing business on eBay, and you learned why. Since that's all I was trying to express I'm going to give myself a 10 out of 10 and a blue ribbon! :p Take care man, there was nothing personal and I'm done with it. :)

Threads like these make me nervous. I bought a dodo off if the bay a while back. When I get the package, I hope I won't be disappointed. If it happens to be a fake, I'll cry lol.

There is nothing wrong with using EBAY as long as your smart and ONLY BUY FROM REPUTABLE DEALERS with good solid feedback. I Deal with several great businesses and never had issues. If you decide to buy from someone without a solid reputation then your gambling.

Last year at a remote hunting camp, I noticed that my longtime friend was using a new knife to harvest the deer he just took with his .270 Remington. I helped him with the processing and used my Fehrman for the chore.

Back at the camp later that day I asked to look at his knife. It was a Fallkniven F1. Or was it? On closer inspection it looked a bit different than the one I had back at home. There was no problem with the knife working properly...it seemed to hold an edge and function as needed. I just handed it back to him and kept my thoughts to myself.

Anyway, fast forward to a picnic last week where I got a chance to compare my F1 with the other knife in question. You guessed it: they were not the same. My buddy bought his off of eBay over two years ago, gave the vendor positive feedback and just went on his merry way. The knives were similar in heft and general shape. Even the sheath looked like it was an orginal. What be bought was a copy of the F1 made in China. He said he thought he paid about $40 for it. And it did not seem to bother him much...the knife had been used for a few hunting trips and then in the kitchen by his wife.

I guess we just have to be vigilant these days. I'll bet a bunch of folks have scant idea that they have been had in the worst of ways! I'd be ultra hot under the collar if somebody attempted to sell me a bogus Military.
