I received this today as part of a partial trade sale. I don't want to name any names yet until I hear back from them. At the moment the ball is in their court, I am waiting on a response from him. As of now, though he is relatively new here on the forums, this person has an all positive itrader rating. I do not want to be the one to mess that up without a reason. So I'll wait to see how he handles this before I name him publicly.

However, I would like to have someone who knows more than I do to confirm my assumption that this is a counterfeit Zero Tolerance knife.

Thanks for looking.

Brian

The experts will be here in a moment. In the meantime, I would have the same question as you do.

What model is it supposed to be? Thought it normally says stuff on the blade.

Some of the fakes are pretty expensive and very well built. 99.9% of the fakes are made from low quality Cr12Mo1V1, or known as D2. It will be decent. More than likely it will function perfectly forever, the quality fools many. Best test I've seen done to find out the fake from a real will test the integrity of the knife. But it does work.

Take a solid 2-2.5" diameter 12-16" long oak stick and with the blade unlocked cross baton it into a 4x4 pressure treated post. The fake will always get a bend or wave at the edge. A real one will lol and ask for more.

Someone else may be able to tell by looks.

If I remember right the 200 should have 3 body screws and a socket pivot, 3/8" I think. Most 200s I've seen also have the blade steel on the non presentation side as well as the KAI logo/model. The scales look off and it should be tapped for left/right, up/down carry.

EDIT:
Here is a pic of one I used to own

The thumbstud is obviously wrong, and the scales appear to be too shiny... Also, as someone else pointed out, the lack of writing on the blade doesn't seem right.

Im thinking this one is a fake, sorry.

I fear you are correct. This pic is from ali express. Sad, hope it works out for you with the other party.

Looks like a fake 0200 to me but I am not familiar with all the newer models. Lack of printing on the blade designating model number, steel type, etc. is a major red flag IMO. Scales look very flat compared to the contoured ones on a real 0200, pivot is not the same either, clip doesn't look right and has no stamp, has a cheap look to it.

Thanks guys, your help is much appreciated. I have personally never own a ZT, this was to be my first, but several friends of mine own and swear by them. I have handled their's, I was pretty sure this was a counterfeit when I took it out of the box. Just due to the pivot, absence of writing on the back side of the blade, as well as the machine work on the blade. It just screamed Chinese counterfeit to me.

Also, I heard back from the guy. It was his first ZT folder as well. He has offered to make it right. The other knife in the trade was exactly as it was described, and the cash part of the trade happened quickly. So I was pretty sure it wasn't anything intentionally done. We all have had our learning experiences, this was one for both of us.

I'm going to close this thread now, it has served its purpose.

Once again, thank you for your responses.

Brian
