Counterfiet help?

So there has been a plethora of counterfeit knives coming through on that big auction site, but this one caught my attention. I am convinced its fake but doesn't have the counterfeiters magical word, Clone, anywhere in the listing. After contacting the seller asking to identify stamped birth code, they informed me that they couldn't find one, believe it is possible pre-code and they purchased it from a seller here. (Correction: I re-read reply messages to me, and seller bought previous sebenza 21 on BF. This knife was not purchased here of the exchange as I implicated before! Sorry BF) Then I see the bids and price go shooting up over $300.... Am I missing something?

As a side note, the seller has been really good with my line of questioning and responsive. For that reason I kind of would like to inform or help the seller with a link to this thread.

What say you? Obviously its an aftermarket clip, but the original can be seen in box above knife.

Counterfeit.

CRK doesn't use TORX

Millet must be installing the Torx then, cause if you goto their instagram it shows the same torx screws on all the CRK's they added their new billet clip too.

other than that, i cannot tell if its a fake or not

Millit can add torx..The clip screw isn't special.
All other fasteners on the Sebenza are specialized/Custom order

But there is so much more wrong! Seller could argue/reply aftermarket screws (and did)...

Clarification: I know its against many posters personal convictions not to post about irregularities, thus I am not driving at that angle. Feel free to point out if you so choose, but I am not fishing for that. Just want seller, and quite potentially (more importantly) the buyer, our general consensus.

I personally messaged seller about 3 immediate alarms that went off in my head, not to mention the un-found date stamp.

The seller can argue aftermarket screws..CRK never made them, so why change them out for torx?

The tooling hole looks off too. The blue sticker on the box doesn't look right..

Trash

A torx pivot screw? Why bother with a probable fake?

As stated above... Also, part of my knife hobby is constantly looking and reading about knives. I am a sponge for information. Why else would I be reading LW's mnandi history thread 20 times and still never own a mnandi? The first time I saw this knife, I immediately thought "fake" and cleared from my mind. It caught my attention again when browsing, and the price had shot up to REAL CRK Sebenza levels. First I thought my mind must be playing tricks on me, am I missing something, then I feel bad for the buyer, then I feel bad for the (unknowing?) seller. I feel fortunate to be able to have worked hard enough to afford to spend CRK money on CRK knives, but I can't, and no one should, spend CRK level money for trash.

No hole in the lock bar for the detent ball

Could you explain this? I have never seen a readily visible hole in the lock bar for the detent ball. Only on fakes have I seen the external hole in the lock bar...

I've read this string twice and am not sure what the goal of the post is.

Originally I thought it was asking the group if we thought it was fake. I think the obvious of the lack of slab codes and the screws point to that. Has the direction shifted to now trying to let both Buyer and Seller know this groups thoughts?

Yes on both accounts. Originally, I wasn't sure anymore if it was fake. Seller claims customization's lead to torx being installed and early CRK didn't have slab codes (any truth). Seller has been made aware of thread to hopefully prevent/stop them from selling false merchandise. Seller legitimately is now concerned it may possibly be counterfeit, but since item is still up, apparently not convinced, yet.

Isn't it in CRK's owners best interest to get these things off the market? education is key?

I agree, where is this going? Fake Sebenza being sold by someone who most likey knows it is fake. A perfect example of why not to buy CRKs from that auction site!

i've been tempted so many times but always just close the window and walk away. The above is good advice...

I was trying to get a large consensus (replies, I got maybe 4 ish) that it was indeed fake to let the seller know since they legitimately seemed concerned and believe they have a real CRK. Guess I should posted a poll. Discussion took place to my understanding. I won't bring it up again.

The only thing sadder than a fake CRK, is a person selling a fake CRK unknowingly.

My mistake, I just looked at my own Sebenza and no hole on the outside of the lock-bar, I must have confused this with another knife

Buying CRKs of "that auction site"(We can't name it? Seriously?!) is fine, just make sure you buy from a dealer that is approved by CRK. I agree buying used would be a hazard though.
