Counterpoint to a Sebenza?

I have bugged CRK for yrs to come up with a "mid-sized" Sebenza. I've had lots of CRK's, both small and large, and neither quite fit my wants.
So, I discovered the Spyderco Slysz Bowie. It's a great folder. I'm wearing it right now. Not a flipper, but great quality and construction. Prime quality steel...CTS-XHP. Pretty well nails it, in my book.

If you don’t mind front flippers check out the 3.25 inch Shamwari from Gareth Bull. It is my medium Chris Reeve. Size is just perfect for edc.

The newer ones don’t come with that annoying pivot.

How in the world did this slip my radar? (Probably because that's out of my budget lol). It looks like it fits right along the CRK's. I guess if you want a Sebenza yin, you have to go with another South African design

More people need to try the Freeman 451, always.
Finding diamonds in the raw like this one is what makes me happy to be a part of the forum. I would like to see .5 inches less blade, but if F&F is as good as the Sebenza (or very close to it,) I would be more than happy to recommend it. More 'tacticool' than elegant, but to me only satin/stonewashed knives can flex into 'gentleman' territory

I had a Gareth Bull, the large Shamwari, about two yrs ago. It was a WONDERFUL knife with precise construction and finish, but I just couldn't get past the front flipper routine. Great folder, great builder, however. Many of those South Africans seem to do a bang-up job.

Don’t give up. I got mine used for about 400$. Granted it was abit beat up (and the pivot rusted shut which had to be fixed) but it was only cosmetic wear and a few light scratches on the blade. I wanted to get it as a user....didn’t know the pivot was rusted shut...

But I have seen used ones in very good condition go for around 500$. If you’re lucky you can find a lightly used one for just over 400$. Also mine is an older version. The new ones have a newer clip, torx bit pivot and a stop pin that doesn’t show screws through the scales. (It just fits into two holes on the inside of the scales) Also the 3.5 inch and bigger versions have thicker titanium.

Here are a few pictures that better compare the sizes.

Believe me when I say that I will not be giving up, except I won't be giving up on a sebenza... I walked into what would become my new brick and mortar, and eventually fell in love with a small sebenza. Before that day I always thought that people were crazy for investing in a CRK, but now I get it haha

I love the 451 Freeman but agree with wanting a slightly smaller blade. I really wish he would come out with a smaller version. The 451 is just too big for my typical EDC. If he came out with a 3'ish inch, 3-4 oz version with the same amazing action, I would be all over it. Probably get multiples since you can customize your options.
