I placed an order for a couple of items and everything seemed to be normal. It was shipped quickly and was supposedly out for delivery. The UPS driver couldn't find the package, however. This was on a Friday and the delivery was rescheduled for Monday. I figured no big deal, it just got temporarily misplaced and will turn up. Then I get an Exception Notification from UPS stating that the package was damaged and the contents were missing. This was obviously their fault, not County Comm's and if it had not happened I would have been more than happy with the purchase.

A couple of days passed without hearing anything from County Comm, so I decided to email them to make sure they were aware of the situation(even though they should have received the notification from UPS as well). I got through after a couple of attempts and they responded that they would check into it asap. I didn't get a response to any subsequent emails so I finally opened a Paypal dispute about a month after the initial order. After 2 weeks with no response to that I had to escalate it to a claim to get a refund through Paypal.

I can honestly say that I will never do business with them again. I was reluctant to place an order in the first place since they only ship through UPS. The lack of communication and lack of concern with the problem were the most irritating things about the situation though. It's easy to be a good seller when things go smoothly, but when something goes wrong is when you find out how good they really are.

I had a cart all ready to go on their website until I went to check out and saw they only ship UPS 2 day air at a flat rate to Hawaii and my $10 worth of keychain parts were going to cost me $25 to ship.

Sorry to hear about the the hassle and headache dealing with them.

I was going to place an order with them last week.
but was very hesitate, because of all the not so great service, or lack of it.
Im glad I didnt cause id much rather pay more and support a company that believes customer service is good business practice.

I accidentally placed a duplicate order and contacted them before it shipped to cancel. The response was basically 'too bad'.
Luckily, it wasn't much!

On the contrary, I have placed many orders with them this past year and never a problem. Fast and complete. I love those Embassy pens and they make great gifts!

I've gotten dozens of items from them over the years, some more expensive than others. Never a problem.

But as dannyp says, "It's easy to be a good seller when things go smoothly, but when something goes wrong is when you find out how good they really are."

I've ordered from them a couple of times and haven't had any problems. But this isn't the first thread I've come across regarding their poor customer service, and despite my good experiences in the past, I'd be hesitant to place a high-value order with them. (The previous orders I placed with them have been for inexpensive items like their miniature prybars.)

I've had problems with UPS delivering smashed up boxes but never had a problem with County .

I recently placed an order with them and while it hasn't yet shipped, I'm unhappy with the ordering process. They don't allow you to save your cart. The cart is slow to update. And once you're ready to pay, many items are suddenly no longer in stock. If you remove those items, new items pop up that are no longer in stock.

It seems bugged. I really hope I get my order as it is a biggie. I can't believe they told you "Too Bad".
I gotta bad vibe just cruising their site.

I've ordered several things from them with no problems, including ordering a T-SAR watch and one of their Navigator watches. Great experiences.

Once I ordered something and then wanted to add to the order; I emailed and got a quick response. He cancelled the original order and asked me to resubmit the order complete.

On another order I messed up the zip code or something on my shipping address and I sent an email and he corrected it no problem.

These are just my experiences only and +1 on those embassy pens.

I always thought UPS was the best carrier. I know USPS is nothing but problems in my experience, and heard FED-EX is just as bad sometimes.
With UPS I've always gotten items quickly and safely.
Which carrier does everyone here prefer? I'm curious what custom knifemakers use for their shipping service.

To the original post, I've ordered from county-comm once and didn't have any problems. Though I have heard very many bad things from them. I don't believe they are very good people to do business with.

They all have their pro's and con's (no pun). I have found UPS to very driver dependent, sometimes the guy that works your area is awesome and by the book, sometimes you get a lazy dog that won't leave notices, drops your package at the door, and signs for you while driving away.

About UPS: I prefer UPS even it cost a tiny bit more since their workers do well and support me just by living their lives and going about their business. Same for buying coffee at Star Bucks instead of saving a dollar at Mcdonalds. Or buying outdoor stuff at REI. They're good jobs. I like to support them. Just saying. :D

I ordered a flashlight from them recently and there was a problem with it working correctly. I immediately e-mailed them about it and got a response within an hour saying " please return and we'll take care of it, no problem". I shipped it back and they sent me another light very promptly. I was impressed with their service in my case. Sorry to hear about the problems you guys are having with them.

I have bought too much stuff from County Comm in the past. I have a bunch of stuff from them that just gathers dust. Although the Peanut Lighter, A&P 3" keyring and CR123 Delrin Safe have all become permanent parts of my EDC. Never had any issues, but I'm not surprised. I've never even gotten a thank you on a receipt, it seems like the human element is just barely there with CC.

I've only had one transaction with County Comm, no problems there.

I'm slowly getting to where I really dislike USPS. The most recent reason? On a rainy day my mail lady didn't want to get out of the jeep, so she placed one of those "Sorry we missed you" slips in my mail box. I sat there and watched her do it, so I confronted her about it when she came back out of the clu-de-sac. She swore she knocked on my door, I'd say they're very driver dependant as well.

I've bought a few small things from them.Never had any problems.

I've read things from both perspectives regarding their customer service since this first started. It seems to be pretty hit or miss. To their credit, the package was shipped out the next business day after I placed the order. If it hadn't been damaged in shipping I would have considered it a positive transaction even with the minimal communication. It's just frustrating when you can't get a response from someone even after opening a Paypal dispute.

My preference for shipping is USPS Delivery Confirmation when I have the choice. It's not that I have a problem concerning reliability with UPS or FEDEX, just that the mail is much easier for me since it is left inside our building and the door locked afterwards. In most cases I don't have to worry about someone being there to sign for the package or having it left outside if the driver gets there after the mail carrier locks the outside door.
