Couple of Big Bowies

Don, I wish my photo's looked as good at the ones you take. Hey you got any sample piece of walrus ivory laying around?

Great looking Bowies!!!!!!

What is the damascus mix on the blade? to get such a nice hamon

Chad

The first blade is W1, I usually use W2 but it's been hot and I already had this one forged.

The second blade is 5400 layers of W2 and wrought iron (85% W2, 15% iron). It does show a good hamon and the damascus pattern is just back ground.

Riad, damascus blade?......soon :)

Ray, thanks but I guess I'm used to seeing Coop's great work, makes mine look rough. I do have a lot of ivory laying around but no samples :o

Thanks all !

Great looking knives. Not sure if I would prefer them with buttcaps, but I sure do think they are fantastic just the way they are.

I dropped by Don's shop today and the S-guard had not been mailed, yet. I just have to say Don does an amazing job of making a big bowie like this feel so nice, even light, in the hand. It always floors me. You expect to need to work to heft up this large knife, and it does so with such ease. Plus, great balance.

The S-guard needs photos from the ends to really appreciate the total effect it gives to this one. Off to a happy customer, in a BIG case.

Once again, FANTASTIQUE!!!

Both are really nicely done. The second one is my favorite of the two.

If I could, I'd buy every knife you make Don!

Hope you are enjoying your summer (except forging in this heat!).
