Couple of KLVUK for 10/17

I have to say something in defense of all the people who are hitting themselves in the head. Even if someone knew what the KLVUK acronym stood for, it's not self-evident that "Keshar Lal" is the name of the kami. Unless you happened to read and remember a couple of the early threads where that was explained.

For example, is the CAK named after a kami named "Chiruwa"? Is the GRS named after a kami named "Ganga Ram"? Actually it is, but they're made by someone else these days. Then there's the Chitlangi and the Chainpuri, named after villages, not kamis, if I recall correctly.

So don't beat yourselves up too badly. :)
Well the sad thing is I knew dang well what it meant. If we met in public and said KLVUK how would you pronounce that? You wouldnt say oh i picked up a Keshar Lal Village Utility Khukuri the other day on DOTD. You might pronounce it "killvuk". Hmmm? Naw but thanks guys that goes right next to the dumb and dumbest question for the year award! I think im gonna go sit down now and polish my Kumar Karda and have a cold IPA. Maybe I should have had that IPA this morning? Wonder who makes the Kumar Karda by the way? Dooooh! That ones marked on the blade dummie!
Bawanna you got me pegged! I usually get to work and first thing I do is log on and see what you all are doing. I may wait till break time from now on before i humiliate myself publicly any more.
Almost as cool as Amar Singh Tapar Kami.
Im still tring to get this one down!

Nope, I know I wasn't going to poke fun. I know about being absent-minded. If it makes you feel any better, here's a story:

My birthday is on the 31st day of a month that is well known for having 31 days. A few years back, while I was trying to figure out a scheduling issue I just couldn't remember, and asked a friend how many days were in (yep you guessed it) the month I was born. They knew my birthday. Took me a while to live that one down. :)

Man I didnt even get her in the house before I put er to use. My wife liked it so much I ain't getting it back! This is my first piece of asare wood and I like it! Has an interesting texture. Almost spongy corky like but solid. Great shock absorption! Really feels nicely balanced. I did touch up the edge a bit after all them weeds behind me dissipated. Now it pops hairs! She was plenty sharp before but just had to add my touch. Love it! Nice blade!

I did just happen to have a Kydex sheath from another KLO and it fit perfectly so for now my wife has a super cool garden tool. Whoever got the other one congrats! Wish it was me:D

Oil those Asare wood handles well! Mine drank up huge amounts of an orange oil/beeswax mix I use for furniture resoration. I finish sealed it with multiple coats of tung oil. Let it dry in between coats. The handle will crack if you dont do something to prevent it..--KV

I don't think I've ever seen a picture of Ndoghouse wearing shoes. Don't yall wear shoes down in your neck of the woods.

With snakes, spiders, bugs and what not I believe I'd be wearing logger boots to bed.

Nope! Dont even wear shoes in the winter. I wear them where I legally have to like restaurants and work. Thats about it. One time years ago I caught a bus way the heck to the other side of town and a bus driver decided not to let me on the bus for my return trip. Finally caught another and got home! About the only thing that penetrates my feet are blackberry thorns. They are everywhere around here. I still pick them barefooted tho. I carry a Khuk with me and push them out of the way with the back of the spine.

I did oil the asare handle last night and it sucked it up like you say. I will give it a deep bath in mineral oil tonight. Thanks for the info! Im off of work today so Im going to do some more bush whackin. This time my (er...my wife's)KLVUK is razor sharp. Should be fun!

Pardon my facebook ignorance but what is "eneps from aranyik"? I should have bought both of them but then again I hope whoever got the other one comes back and buys more so all is not lost:thumbup:

An e-nep is a large thai knife superficially somewhat similar to a kukri. Aranyik is a person/company that sells them on Amazon, but he sold out his entire stock earlier this year. He's been posting updates on his facebook page as to when new e-neps will be ready to sell. Soon, I hope!

Awwww Man I definitely didnt need to see that!
My wife's gonna kill me!

This is cool too along with the coconut knife and some others.

That "Custom Udom Chai E-nep" is pretty close to what I've had in mind for rehandling one of the larger HI blades so it can be used one-handed or two-handed. I already have the blade: an extra-large not-quite-finished WWII blade by Sher that I bought without a handle. I have several choices of wood for the handle. Now all I need is the time and energy. Maybe this picture will give me the necessary inspiration.
