Couple of Matt Bailey Campers

First, let me say what a stand up guy Matt is. I had a camp knife from him a few months back and when money got overly tight, I made a mistake and sold it. So when my wife's work picked back up, I contacted him to make me another camp knife. I requested 5160 and cocobolo with his usual filework and sent him pics of my old knife. A couple months later he send me my knife. It wasn't what my other knife had looked like, but it was ridiculously nice. I contacted Matt and told him that the knife wasn't exactly what I had in mind. Without hesitation he started making me another. When the time came, I just couldn't give the other one up, so I kept both. What a couple of blades. Now I just have to figure out if I can bring myself to use them:D

I wish all my "problems" turned out like yours. :)
Those are excellent looking camp knives, they look really nice, and beefy in your hands. Love that wood.
So tell us the specs. Inquring minds want to know
 
great looking blades man...:eek: those handle scales are gorgeous... i have always liked matt's work...:thumbup: one of these days i'll have to get one...

i like that second one..
 
Sorry, specs would help.

Top knife is 11 1/2 inches OAL with a 6 inch blade. 1/4 inch 5160 that is
1 1/2 inches wide at the widest.

Second knife is 12 3/4 inches OAL with a 6 3/4 inch blade. 1/4 inch 5160 that is 1 1/4 inch at its thickest.
 
Wow, I love both of those knives. I have one of his little halibuts and it is amazing. One of his full sized knives is at the top of my list.
 
Really great looking knives. I'm a big fan of the shorter one. The filework and lines are very appealing, but the whole package still suggests that it it is ready to be used around the camp.

I love Matt's work. His fit and finish are amazing, and he puts all kinds of little touches on his knives that other makers charge a LOT more for. One of these days, I need to talk him into making a custom model for me. :)
