Couple Questions About the Force One:

I did a search but couldn't find anything.

The Force One:

1) What configurations was it offered in? (Handle and blade options) Was it offered with urban camo as an option?
2) Is it based on the PT-5?
3) It is designed specifically for penetration, right?
4) Is the band cutter effective?
5) Would you say it is more utiltarian or more "combatish"?
6) Does it feel lively, i.e. balence, in the hand?
7) If you have a Force One and a SFNO, what do you prefer? Please explain.

Thanks for the help.

1) A few
2) Nope. Two different cookies
3) Not mainly IMHO
4) If it wasn't, Jerry wouldn't have it on there ;)
5) Whichever your heart desires
6) Feels like an old girlfriend. Nasty, but oh so sweet
7) Depends on what I am doing

KAAK, you just had to post to this thread didn't you? LOL

In my opinion it is one of the baddest mothers that Jerry has produced! It is just scary pointy and much more of a knife than the PT5. Of all of the designs, so far, this is my personal favorite. I just love the look and feel of it.

1) What configurations was it offered in? (Handle and blade options) Was it offered with urban camo as an option?

No to Urban Camo, if I remember correctly Just Black, Satin and Double Cut blade finishes, possibly green, but not sure.

Standard SF handles.

2) Is it based on the PT-5?

Don't think so. I remember someone saying that it was originally designed as an "entry tool". Based on my own experiments, it's optimized for going through body armor. Likely go through everything out there except ceramic plate. Possibly even that.

3) It is designed specifically for penetration, right?

Yes. While I've personally used it to cleave freestanding coconuts in half, in hand the blade just begs for the thrust.

4) Is the band cutter effective?

Yes

5) Would you say it is more utiltarian or more "combatish"?

Combatish. Not an EDC carry, or a camp knife.

6) Does it feel lively, i.e. balence, in the hand?

It's heavy, but it has excellent balance and the weight just begs for the thrust. I like it so much that I'm having an aluminum trainer made of it so I can use it in my training. It's not a knife I would use against a similarly trained opponent in a knife duel, but I would use it as my primary H2H weapon in the field.

7) If you have a Force One and a SFNO, what do you prefer? Please explain.

I don't own a SFNO, but I have played around with one. They are totally different knives. SFNO is a combat knife made for multiple, general uses. Force One is a specialized blade. You can't compare them.

i agree with cabbit on all points. esp. #6. i wouldn't pick up the f1 to go against a knife fighter. but it would be my first or second choice in a combat zone.

the mere sight of this blade would make the natives feel restless :)

are you getting micarta scales for your trainer?

Thanks everyone for the advice and info.

The Double Cut Bead Blasted and Black Paper look very cool.

Does anyone have this combination?

yea, I picked up one with black paper scales and the double cut finish. makes a very striking image with the smooth black handle and the satin finish on the blade.
I think the black paper scales are pretty to look at, but I prefer the canvas for grip. The double cut finish is one of the most scratch resistant on any knife I own, busse or other..

Thanks for the advice. I never knew that.

Here is my Force One, I had Jerry grind a more traditional tip on it, I didn't want it to be so pointy. I guess it is sort of a variant. It has magnum black linen handles and a double cut finish. The fusion cut on the linen micarta gives it alot of grip. It is a beefy knife, larger than it looks, but balanced, the band cutter take a lot of forward weight off, but still has a strong tip.

:D

Thanks for the pic. I prefer them nice and pointy, though.

If you have an EU-17, how would you compare the size of the handles on the EU-17 series to the magnum grips. I just want to know how much more "magnum" they really are.

I had a EU-17, but I don't remember how they compared, the magnum handles are pretty big (wide), so if you don't have a big hand, they will probably be too large.

I probably have medium sized hands but I always wear gloves. Would they be to large for medium sized hands when wear gloves? How much extra do they cost?
